In 2013, Isaac Villaverde set out to preserve and celebrate a heritage that was deeply rooted in his family: the flavors, traditions, and identity of Afro-Panamanian culture. Inspired by his grandparents and his family’s history, what started as a catering project eventually became something much bigger. ❤️🇵🇦

There was a food trailer. There were challenges. There was even a moment when the project had to close.

But the story didn’t end there.

Isaac started again and transformed La Tapa del Coco into more than a restaurant — a cultural movement bringing Afro-Panamanian cuisine and heritage to the world. 🌎
