For anyone who hasn't seen it yet: this is SakayKo, the app built for Bantayan Island.

Three things that make it ours:

💬 You name the fare. Offer what you think the trip is worth. Drivers nearby can take it or counter — and you pick who comes. No surge, no mystery pricing.

🏠 The rider is your neighbor. Every driver is verified, and the one who shows up is usually from your own barangay.

🤝 It's free, and it stays free. No commission, no service fee. Every peso of the fare goes to the driver. Every peso of a store sale goes to the store. We don't take a cut — and we won't start once we're bigger.

Restaurants and carinderias, snack stalls, milk tea and coffee, cakes and pastries, sari-sari stores — plus a meat shop, two florists, and even a farm-supply store. 23 barangays across Madridejos, Bantayan and Santa Fe. Every one of them run by our own neighbors.

Order from any of them in the SakayKo app, and a rider from your barangay brings it to your door. 1,300+ items ready to order right now.

And here's the part worth saying out loud: SakayKo takes 0% of it. Not one peso. Whatever you pay for the goods goes entirely to the store that made or stocked them. No commission, no listing fee, no paid "promoted" slots that push the shops who can't afford them to the bottom. The store keeps what it earns.

📈 ₱189,081

Two and a half months ago, that number was zero.

That's what our drivers have earned since we launched on May 19, across 1,879 completed trips. And separately, our local stores have taken in ₱49,985 on Tindahan — a service that didn't exist at all when we started.

Here's the part we're proudest of: none of it was built by charging for it. Not one peso of that ₱189,081 passed through us on its way to a driver. Not one peso was shaved off a store's sale. No commission, no service fee — not now, and not when we're bigger.

What changed in ten weeks isn't the app. It's a few hundred neighbors deciding to trust a driver they found on their phone, and enough drivers deciding to show up for them, at 5am, in the rain, for the ₱40 trip as much as the ₱200 one.

Altogether, an estimated ₱79,078 earned by our drivers across 767 completed trips last month. On Tindahan, local stores sold ₱18,458 worth of goods across 49 deliveries — paid straight to the store owner.

Our cut of all of it: ₱0.

Another app would look at those numbers and see a percentage waiting to be collected. We look at them and see fare money that made it home. There's no commission coming later, no service fee hiding in the next update — a driver who earns ₱200 keeps ₱200, this month and next year.

So if you booked a ride, sent a package, or ordered from a store last month: that money went to a neighbor, not a head office. Salamat. 🐟

This is our biggest update yet. We rebuilt the app around one idea: make it easy to explore Bantayan and get anywhere on the island. It's now on the App Store and Google Play.
