LOOK: CEBU NOW FLIES DIRECT TO HANOI

Cebu marked a major milestone in regional air travel as Vietnam Airlines officially launched the first-ever direct route between Cebu and Hanoi. The inaugural flight, VN643 from Hanoi, touched down at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) yesterday, December 3, and was welcomed with a ceremonial water cannon salute.

The arrival was witnessed by key representatives from both countries, including Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Lai Thai Bình, DOT Director Zeny Pallugna, Vietnam Airlines Country Manager Đoàn Vũ, and MCIAA Public Affairs Head Mary Ann Dimabayao. MCIA Head of Aviation Business & Development Rodante Virata Ponio Jr. delivered the opening remarks to formally welcome the milestone service.

This new Cebu–Hanoi route is expected to unlock more tourism exchanges — giving Cebuanos easier access to Vietnam’s cultural hubs and vibrant café scene, while inviting Vietnamese visitors to discover Cebu’s beaches, flavors, and signature hospitality.

With this historic link now open, MCIA celebrates strengthened regional connectivity and looks forward to the new travel opportunities it brings.
