Competition on the Cebu–Hilongos, Leyte route is expected to intensify, with ALD Sea Transport reportedly planning to deploy its newly built M/V ALD 8, while Roble Shipping is also expected to introduce its newly constructed ROPAX vessel, M/V Mother Immaculate Star. Meanwhile, Gabisan Shipping Lines Inc. has acquired the former M/V Trans-Asia 8, which is expected to be renamed M/V Gloria Eight, marking the addition of its second ROPAX vessel to the fleet.

M/V Seacat One of Grand Ferries is coming back in operation in Hilongos - Cebu route after completing its drydocking, maintenance, and essential job works.

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) in Eastern Visayas has clarified that the 10% fare adjustment for passenger vessels and motorbancas operating in the region is not an automatic increase, stressing that they must first comply with prescribed procedures before collecting higher fares.
