Mission accomplished! I've officially completed my first-ever 400km Audax ride – what an epic journey! We set off from Davao City at 4 AM, heading to Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental before turning back. I definitely hit a wall for about three hours, mostly due to pushing a little too hard early on and the heat taking its toll. But amazingly, I bounced back strong from km 240 to 350, maintaining a solid pace. The last 50km from Tagum City to Davao City was a true test of endurance, but against all odds, I finished as the second rider! So proud of this achievement!

Next month I'll be heading to Gensan for an even bigger challenge of 600km and 4000m elevation gain. 😬

I felt strong and the aerobar is definitely a huge help! But oh man, it was dirty, completely polluted. Gladly I was mostly wearing a facemask, but my shades did not help much. 😬

Great to be back riding in Mindanao. What a fantastic scenery. Mostly concrete roads, but very quiet (also due to Maundy Thursday). Ended up at our resort in Vinapor for some swimming, eating and more red horse with the family. 🍻💚🚲

Final outdoor ride of 2021! What a year it has been on the bike and got a record number of 7166 kilometers on the computer! Another awesome ride to close off the year in style (Pagudpud Cagayan Valley provincial border). Not the best roads, lots of wind (yeah that's why they put the windmills here 😄), but nice sights (incl. the touristic Patapat viaduct). See you all next year! 🚲💪🏼 🚲🧡 🚲

Monasterio de Tarlac has been on the bucket list for a while, and it didn't disappoint. Lovely quiet roads with nice scenery as we mostly avoided McArthur Highway. We left a little too late due to a mechanical issue, so it was scorching hot in the afternoon in NCC, where there was no cover at all. Anyways, great ride again with my buddy Wil. 👌🏼🚲⛰️

First bike ride (indoor) of the year, first ride after the holidays and above all the first ride after my surgery 3.5 weeks ago. I'm cycling now with a remembrance in my shoulder, so need to reduce some fat to compensate for the added weight. 😄 Still have a few broken ribs as well, but the ride went well. 🚲💪🏼🩵

Training ride with my Audax-Siargao buddy in preparation for Audax in Bukidnon. Unfortunately we had to change our route as Red Rocks was closed due to a recent landslide. We decided to ride the same way back to get in the necessary climbing meters. It was still not enough, but I didn't have the perseverance and energy to get in another 500 meters of elevation. The final 20 kms back to Indang were a struggle mainly due to the heat.
