CESSNA TRAINING AIRCRAFT MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING IN CAGAYAN
Two aviators walked away uninjured after their two-seat Cessna training plane was forced to make an emergency landing in an open field in Barangay Mapitac on Thursday, 10 September.
According to local disaster risk reduction and management officials, flight instructor John Lexter Visperas, 27, executed the precautionary landing shortly after the aircraft experienced an unexpected mid-flight engine failure.
Accompanying Visperas was 20-year-old student pilot Anubhaw Prasad, an Indian national. Both occupants are residents of Barangay Pengue-Ruyu in Tuguegarao City and were conducting a scheduled training sortie when the malfunction occurred.
First responders from the municipal emergency services rushed to the touchdown site to secure the area and evaluate the crew.
Paramedics confirmed that neither the pilot nor the student sustained physical injuries, and the light aircraft remained largely intact following the touchdown in the rural parcel.
Aviation authorities and investigators have been notified to determine the exact mechanical failure that caused the engine to shut down in midair.
