✈️ Europe may be heading toward a serious jet fuel supply crisis.
Disruptions in the Middle East are tightening global jet fuel availability, putting increasing pressure on European airports and airline operations. 🌍
The region normally supplies up to 75% of Europe’s jet fuel imports, supporting key aviation markets including:
🇬🇧 UK
🇩🇪 Germany
🇫🇷 France
🇪🇸 Spain
🇹🇷 Turkey
🇮🇹 Italy
While imports from the U.S. are increasing, experts warn they are still far from enough to replace lost Middle Eastern supply.
According to the International Energy Agency, even additional U.S. volumes would cover only a little more than half of the disrupted supply.
⚠️ The biggest concern: fuel reserves.
If stock levels drop below 23 days of supply, airports could begin facing operational disruptions and even flight cancellations — potentially as early as June.
🎙️ Willie Walsh warned:
“We could start to see some cancellations in Europe for lack of jet fuel.”
For the aviation industry, this is becoming more than an energy issue — it’s a growing operational risk.
