As we closed the door for the final time on the hen party villa, the crazy place we’d called home for the past 3 days, there wasn’t the usual despondency feeling of ‘time to go home’ cos me and Tracey still weren’t done with our time on the Algarve😉. Uber ready we dragged our hen party broken bodies into the back of the car and relaxed knowing we had another 4 days of just enjoying the wonderfulness of the stunning Algarve ☺️. The quiet motorway and mixed scenery of orange groves, vine yards and randomly placed villas lulled us into that relaxed sleepy feeling of the old fashioned noddy dog that used to have pride of place in everyone’s cars. The mood was certainly fitting for our next destination of Alvor, a quiet, tucked away, sleepy little fishing harbour where it feels ‘relaxation’ is the main agenda and if you’re not up for that then don’t bother stopping 🥱. I personally love it here and knew it was perfect for some post hen party therapy. Within half an hour we were checked in, unpacked and laid by our pool ready to snooze the afternoon away.
We sipped on chilled, left over hen party wine as we freshened up for the evening and wowed at the stunning sunset we were privileged to see from our perfectly placed balcony 🌅. Yep this place is pretty much paradise 💖. A short walk on dusty, unpaved roads brought us to the harbour where the sun set perfectly behind the little fishing boats bobbing about patiently waiting to be taken out for their regular night time fishing expeditions. A few steps further on and the heart of Alvors nightlife awaited us. A collection of fisherman’s restaurants where you have the catch of the day grilled to perfection on the outdoor bbq, are the start of the journey into Alvors vibrant, white washed old town. Smart romantic restaurants share the pedestrianised main street with lively, fun cocktail bars, making this place adorable and a proper holiday vibe 🎶🍹.
Our days snd nights just continued in this fab chilled little bubble. Of course there was the obligatory holiday Indian, well 2 actually 🤭🤭. Live music rocks every night in Michaels bar and Irish bars rule a small area here but always great for a Guinness and a bit of Irish craic 😂😂. Beach walks with intermittently spaced beach bars😉 brought us to the famous rock formations and a cloudy start to one of our days found us heading off to Lagos for a nosy at what the Lagos hype is all about.
Lagos is actually a city and after the initial overwhelming feeling of where do we start in such a big place we quickly discovered it wasn’t London big and the main areas of the marina and old town really are worth a look👀.
Before we knew it our time here came to an end yesterday afternoon😔. I’m fortunate to have another visit to Alvor in August and will certainly be taking another day trip to Lagos to experience the much talked about summer evening street entertainment 🎶🥰. Big thumbs up for the Algarve this summer 👍 🥰.

Yesterday was one of those perfect days that you want to bottle up so you can release a little bit of the magic on the not so good days 🪄💖. The sun is very strong here in Tenerife now and only mad dogs and brits are seen sweating their brows off walking the cliff tops in the midday sun 🥵🥵🥵. So of course we totally fitted that category as we took to the cliff path with our spa ready back packs and not so sturdy shoes 🥴to head to the perfect paradise of the Hard Rock hotel spa in the next town. Things were exciting as we left our sleepy little town behind and the bright lights (or maybe that was just the dazzle of the midday sun ☀️ ) of the trendy hard rock hotel were in sight 🙌🙌🙌. Suddenly out of no where a young Scottish lad, young son and baby in a buggy appeared. The serious determination on this guys face was something only witnessed during an ‘I’m a celebrity’ task as he attempted to force the rattly buggy across rocky terrain on top of steep cliffs with the baby being tossed around like a doll, all in an effort to accomplish the task of acquiring anti sickness tablets for his hungover wife 🫣. Yes it had to be seen to be believed. I then spotted his uncovered shoulders and actually winced at his purple flesh bubbling in the Reefy rays so being the always ‘well prepared’ ex girl guide that I am, I politely offered him some sun block for his shoulders😇. My friends partner suddenly found himself delegated the very privileged task of smothering a strangers shoulders in sun block 🤭 as my friend went into total nurturing ‘1980s mum with baby in the sun’ maternal mode. My heart melted as I watched my friend check the baby wasn’t burning, was properly sheltered with the buggy canopy positioned right and gently reminded the dad of baby protocol in the sun. Once we were happy that we’d done everything to mitigate the dangers of their expedition to the pharmacy we waved them off with the satisfaction of a great days team work achieved 🙌🙌🙌. Next stop was our spa paradise and never has the gentle soothing calmness of a spa felt more appreciated. Anyone staying near the Hard Rock hotel really should give this spa a try. The indoors spills outdoors into a wonderful private hydrotherapy pool and relaxing meditation area. This is the bit I’m bottling up, how relaxation truly feels on holiday 💖💖💖

Sooo we arrived Monday night ✈️🙌🙌. The EES system into Tenerife south isn’t working too well but from what I’ve read it would seem to be unpredictable in many places still, turns out I’ve now registered 3 times in the past 3 months in 3 different countries so clearly no joined up talking of the system and maybe very ‘country’ driven atm….who knows just be prepared for unexpected airport ‘teething problems’. Anyway nothing detracts us for too long from our wonderful Calleo salvaje residence, always been fab and 2 days in it’s still fab 🙌🙌🙌. Always feels like ‘coming home’ here and that has been further cemented by the number of people who we know here both local and tourists we’ve met on previous visits, love it🥰. Today we’ve had the privilege of visiting our beautiful friends in their hillside finca for a gorgeous bbq whilst taking in the most amazing views of La gomera 💖. This is a world of calm and relaxation which is such a contrast to the tourist environment and vibe of the south coast 🥰. Love all aspects though of this amazing island 💖💖☺️😍

Hola all 👋🏼 whoo hoo nearly time for the next trip😍. Can’t wait to swap out a UK £8.50 glass of wine for a €3 glass of local Canarian organic rose wine 😋👌. It’s like an efficiency saving exercise for my pension fund 😇. Yes, I’m actually having the joy of travelling to a beautiful warm, sunny climate to save myself money on a few nights out 🙌🙌😂😂. Tomorrow’s trip is taking me to my current favourite hotel in Tenerife. I usually spend my ‘Reefy’ days laid by the pool procrastinating what 12k steps a day looks like and amaze myself at the details my memory has for a 12k walk around my little coastal resort, so much so I can actually almost feel the burn in my calf muscles of some of the hilly areas🥴. However thanks to my overly encouraging family and friends I’ve somehow agreed to have a go at this travel ‘blogging’🫣🫣which means the procrastination will have to become reality if I’m going to be able to find things of real interest to share with people 🤔. So I now just need to work out how I get people interested in reading my stuff and we should be good to give it a go 👌. Adios for now and hopefully I’ll find some interesting ‘Reefy’ things to share 🥰.
