We woke up at 2:00AM for one of the most surreal volcano experiences on Earth — and it changes everything you think you know about sunrise.

We watched the sky slowly shift from darkness into light, as Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru emerged above a sea of clouds.

Jeep trails cutting through volcanic ash. A crater that still breathes. A landscape that feels like the surface of the moon. Horses crossing the silent plains of the Sea of Sand. It didn’t feel like Earth.
