Service? On point. ✨

The SMRT Service Forum took place yesterday at East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID), bringing together industry leaders and partners from Singtel and Huawei, management and colleagues, National Transport Workers' Union members and RTSO colleagues for a morning of learning and sharing on service excellence. πŸ‘

Launched in 2025, the SMRT Service Forum brings together leading voices in service excellence. This year, we were honoured to welcome SingTel CEO Mr Ng Tian Chong, who shared how AI is transforming service at the telco. 🀩

We're putting that thinking into action too. We were proud to launch SARA – the SMRT AI Assistant for Real-time Accessibility – at the forum. Developed with Huawei and iFLYTEK Singapore, SARA is an AI-powered passenger service kiosk that helps with commuters' enquires with real-time information and assistance in multiple languages. 🌟

We also celebrated our colleagues who completed the Service Diploma with Certificate of completion in Transport Service through our partnership with Nanyang Polytechnic, with 38 present to receive their certificates from SMRT Group Chief Commuter Engagement & Service Excellence Officer Mr Alvin Kek. πŸŽ“

In his opening address, SMRT Chairman Mr Seah Moon Ming reflected on our service transformation journey that has consistently placed people at the heart of all we do: "Technology enables us. Training equips us. Partnerships strengthen us. But people remain at the heart of service." ❀️

Because it’s our people who make the connection with the communities we serve – and that’s what great service means to us. πŸ€—

πŸ’Ό You're heading home after a day's work. As you sit on the train, you look up and discover stories of courage, resilience and hope. πŸ₯Ή

A stroke survivor rebuilding their independence. A terminally ill patient having a final wish fulfilled. Seniors finding support and connection in the community.

Today, we launched the Journeys for Good Charity Train, with Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth - MCCY and Ministry of Transport, Singapore, Baey Yam Keng ι©¬η‚ŽεΊ†, officiating the event.

The Charity Train is part of the wider Journeys for Good initiative, a three-year partnership between SMRT and MCCY to support Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs) across Singapore. Under this partnership, SMRT has committed S$1 million to support the publicity needs of selected IPCs, with Our Stellar Ace providing advertising space for their campaigns. 🫢

The response was overwhelming. We received 179 proposals from IPCs across Singapore. We had planned to begin with 6 IPCs but given the strong response we doubled the number to 12.

So the next time you're on the πŸ”΄πŸŸ’ North-South and East-West Lines, look up, you may find a cause that resonates with you. ❀️

πŸŽ₯ Not a drama series. But regular people. And real teamwork.

When a commuter collapsed at Novena station (πŸ”΄NS20), there was no pre-written script to follow. It was real life requiring real action. And three station staff knew what they had to do. They stepped into their role β€” from crowd control and first aid to retrieving the AED, and worked together when every second mattered. ⏱️

Their teamwork and swift response earned them the Singapore Civil Defence Force Community First Responder Award. πŸ… Read their first-hand accounts!

πŸ“° So the news is out! 🚍 SMRT Buses launched its transformation initiative called Bus 4.0 today.

Bus 4.0 sets a new standard for bus operations and next-generation land transport. But what does it actually mean for you, dear commuter?

Let us count the ways:
⏱️ You’ll spend less time waiting at the bus shelter, as AI helps reduce bus bunching (that's when buses on the same service route come together) and keeps services on schedule
🚏 You can expect a smoother ride, as bus lane intrusions and road hazards can be detected automatically, reducing the need for abrupt braking
😌 You’ll enjoy a more comfortable ride, as Bus Captains become more aware of (and motivated to improve!) their own driving habits like harsh braking and acceleration
🦺 Your rides will be safer, with tech alerting Bus Captains and Service Controllers when Bus Captains show signs of tiredness or micro-sleep
πŸ”§ Your bus is less likely to break down mid-trip, thanks to round-the-clock monitoring that spots potential issues early
β™Ώ If you use a wheelchair, we have checks to ensure it is properly parked and secured before the bus moves off
🚦 You’ll get moving sooner during disruptions, as teams can coordinate buses, taxis and other transport options quickly, while sharing timely information through digital bus stop panels

So all in all, we think Bus 4.0 is going to make your bus ride a more joyful one! You don't need to figure out all the tech and thinking behind it. We've got you covered. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Thank you to Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow (萧振η₯₯οΌ‰ for launching Bus 4.0 today, and to all our guests for joining us! πŸŽ‰

You may already know Jayrius' story. And we are happy to announce that a new chapter has begun. ❀️

When Jayrius joined Buses as a part-time Bus Captain, he was fulfilling a lifelong dream. But getting that first "in" was not easy.

A year earlier, he was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. Despite needing weekly dialysis treatments, he became SMRT's youngest Singaporean Bus Captain. With support from his colleagues and supervisors, Jayrius is able to balance his treatment with his duties. And he's loved being behind the wheel from day one. πŸ’ͺ

He has done well and is now ready to take the next step – becoming a full-time Bus Captain. πŸ‘πŸ»

And there's more. This Friday, Jayrius will be part of a transformation initiative called Bus 4.0.

Stay tuned for that story! πŸ‘€πŸš
