Dr. Olawale Sulaiman, a neurosurgeon practicing in Louisiana, chose to reduce his income by 25% so he could devote nearly half of each month to Nigeria, where he performs brain and spinal surgeries at no cost for patients who lack access to such care. Having been born and raised in Nigeria, he felt a strong sense of duty to return and serve communities in need with the expertise he gained abroad.
Through his nonprofit organization, RNZ Global, Dr. Sulaiman has carried out more than 500 complex surgeries and delivered preventive medical services to over 5,000 people. Beyond direct patient care, he transports essential medical equipment from the United States, mentors and trains local healthcare professionals, and contributes to strengthening medical infrastructure across the region.
Speaking about his work, he emphasizes that individuals who benefit from advanced education and global opportunities carry a moral obligation to reinvest their knowledge and influence into underserved communities. His journey powerfully illustrates how selflessness, skill, and purpose can create lasting impact beyond borders.
