Carnaval is incredible and everyone should experience it at least once. Same for New Year’s Eve in Rio. But if you really want to enjoy the city, April through June is honestly one of the best times to come. The weather is better, prices calm down, the beaches are less crowded, and you actually get to experience the real Rio instead of just the tourist chaos. As someone born and raised here, this is the season I always recommend to people who love exploring a city beyond the obvious spots.
