It’s September, so normally we expect a mix of sunshine and rain. But just look at the weather today! ☀️🌊
The sky is beautiful, the sea looks amazing, and honestly, it’s hard to believe we’re in the middle of the rainy season. 😄

Sometimes, the difference between a good trip and a great trip is in the small details. 🌊

I’m currently planning a private island trip for a family staying on Koh Yao Yai.

Their hotel has its own pier, which sounds simple — but there is one important thing I need to check first: the tide.

On their travel date, the tide will be high enough in the morning for us to pick them up directly from the hotel pier. However, after the tour, the tide will be much lower, which means returning to the same pier by boat may not be possible.

So instead of waiting until the day of the trip and hoping everything works out, I’m checking the tide schedule in advance and arranging an alternative drop-off and transfer back to the hotel.

This is one of the things I pay close attention to when planning a private tour.

🌊 Tide levels
🌦️ Weather and sea conditions
🚤 Suitable departure and return times
🤿 The best conditions for snorkeling
🏝️ Which locations are comfortable to visit that day
🚗 And, when necessary, a backup transportation plan

For example, Phi Phi can be affected by very low tides, which may not provide the best conditions for snorkeling. In Phang Nga Bay, the tide can also make a difference to the experience, especially when visiting certain caves, lagoons and shallow areas.

These details may not always be obvious when booking a tour, but they can make a big difference once you are actually on the water.

That’s why with a private tour, I don’t simply follow the same schedule every day.

I check the conditions, adjust the plan when necessary, and prepare ahead of time so your day can run as smoothly as possible.

After more than 10 years working around Phuket, Phang Nga and nearby islands, I’ve learned that good planning isn’t only about choosing beautiful places.

It’s about knowing when and how to visit them.

This important break gives the coral reefs, marine life and surrounding nature time to recover. 🌱🐠
