Timing matters more than destination.

Most people plan Africa around their calendar, rather than the seasons. 🌧️☀️

But that’s exactly how you:
- Miss the river crossings of the Great Migration
- End up in extreme heat and in rainfall
- Overpay for peak season

Last week at my talk, the single slide that everyone took photos of was my timing / seasonality chart for Africa 🌱

So now I’m sharing with everyone exactly how I time my clients’ trips - month by month! 🗓️

This Earth Day 🌎, I teamed up with private members club at the to be the spokesperson for a very important talk bringing to light the symbiotic relationship between safaris and the conservation of African wilderness and wildlife!

The event was fully packed and we run out of chairs! Which just highlights the extreme interest by the HK community in exploring Africa and participating in regenerative and sustainable travel!

I’m incredibly grateful for all the members who came up to me afterwards to begin designing their own safaris and conservation-led itineraries, where the will participate in helping with elephant collaring research, anti-poaching rhino initiatives, and local school funding.

Thank you to my partners , , for making this happy for my guests, and thank you to my advisor and team and for their support!

I’m incredibly honored to be invited by and its private members’ club to speak on Earth Day 🌍 🌱 about conservation, sustainable travel, and African safaris.

This is still a nascent conversation in Asia, and I’m so thrilled to be part of bringing it here.

🦁Tomorrow at 7:30 pm at The Reading Room. RSVP in the Carlyle & Co. members’ app!

Did you know Easter Island is one of the most remote inhabited places on Earth - home to just 7,700 people?

I’ve visited multiple times, made some of my closest friends there, and every trip leaves a piece of my heart behind.

So when I helped a retired couple from Texas make their dream trip happen, I prepared a week of sunrise at Ahu Tongariki, coffee in Hanga Roa, horseback rides across volcanic plains, wild horses, surfing reef breaks, Tapati rehearsals, and ending the day playing ukulele at sunset with locals.

If Easter Island - or any remote, once-in-a-lifetime destination - is on your list, me and my team at Aterra are happy to help design you the perfect journey!

A few days ago, a busy working couple in the UK came to me looking for a last-minute March trip focused on one thing: seeing Rwanda’s mountain gorillas.

Within 48 hours, I built them a seamless route through Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe, and Akagera for a week of wildlife and quiet mornings.

If you’re looking for an adventurous journey off-the-beaten track that connects you with nature, local communities, and helps you understand the research of the late legend Dian Fossey , then:

In South Africa, I recently helped a client book a private 10-person dinner at La Motte - a long table set in a private lavender-lined vineyard as the sun dropped behind the mountains. You also get to take a cute little blue bus for a few minutes after canopies through lavender fields.

This is why I always insist clients slow down in Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. The Winelands in South Africa aren’t just about wine - they’re about access. Private cellars. Vineyard-to-table dining. Fog rolling over the vines at sunrise. It’s the most soulful part of any South Africa itinerary when done right.

Most travelers rush through this region and miss the magic entirely. But with the right wineries and the right timing, the Winelands become unforgettable.

DM me for curated Winelands itineraries - Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, private vineyards, and elevated dining.

Summer 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most in-demand seasons to see the Great Migration.

Over 1.5 million wildebeest, joined by zebra and gazelle, move across the Serengeti–Mara in a spectacle that only happens once a year and never the same way twice.

The Migration follows weather, not dates, and timing is becoming harder to predict. The best-located camps for summer 2026 are already close to full.

At Aterra, we design the entire experience. From early-morning game drives to slow afternoons back at camp and moments you would never expect, like a private tennis match overlooking the plains.

If the Great Migration is on your list, now is the time to plan.

Most people who go to Antarctica never see Emperor Penguins.
These rare and famous penguins are elusive and don’t live anywhere near where ships stop.

Snow Hill Island is one of the only places in the world where you can reach an active Emperor Penguin colony and even then, only during a short window each season.

To get there, you have to fly. I recently helped a family book a helicopter-supported expedition that can access Snow Hill when ice and weather allow. Some days that means landing on stable sea ice nearby, other days it’s a controlled drop-off. Nothing about it is guaranteed, which is exactly why so few people ever do it.

There are very limited aircraft, strict environmental rules, and tiny group sizes. Most seasons, only a handful of departures even attempt it.

Trips like this typically start around $10k USD for ~10 days, depending on timing and logistics.

If you’re curious about whether this is realistic for you, or just want to understand how these trips actually work, comment “ATERRA” or DM us 💌

6 lodges that were completely sold out online, yet I still secured them for my clients this month at 10–15% below public rates.

With my partner , I have special access to Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge in Tanzania, Phinda Rock Lodge in South Africa, Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp in Botswana, Bateleur Camp in the Masai Mara, &Beyond Benguerra Island in Mozambique, and Tengile River Lodge.

Each lodge showed zero availability to the public, but through private lodge partners and on-the-ground contacts I was able to get my clients confirmed rooms with added perks.

Beyond securing the lodges themselves, I handled every part of the journey for my clients, from airport pickup and charter flights to personalized activities, butler services, and opportunities to give back locally in meaningful ways. Safari seasons are filling earlier every year and the best properties rarely appear online, which is why having someone who can open the right doors makes all the difference.

If you’re planning last minute Africa for 2025 or planning ahead for 2026, reach out and I’ll hold the dates before they disappear again.

Comment “AFRICA” and I’ll send you more details!
