The Kogatende region in northern Serengeti National Park is one of the most famous locations to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration. Here, hundreds of thousands of wildebeests, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, make dramatic crossings of the Mara River as they move between Tanzania and Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
What makes Kogatende special?
👉 River crossings: Massive herds gather along the riverbanks before suddenly plunging into the water.
👉Predator action: Nile crocodiles often lie in wait, while lions, leopards, and hyenas patrol nearby.
👉 Spectacular photography: Dust clouds, splashing water, and tightly packed herds create unforgettable images.
👉Unpredictable timing: Crossings can happen at any time of day—or not at all—making every safari unique.
