On Tuesday evening, Shawn Waggoner and Rick St Cyr had the privilege of attending a captivating presentation at the Charleston Yacht Club featuring veteran sailor Tim Kent.

Reflecting on his grueling 2002-2003 Global Solo Challenge, Kent shared a narrative defined by resilience, humility, and wit. He spoke candidly about the immense adversity he faced both on and off the water, highlighting the extraordinary teams of people whose collective spirit made his journey possible.

Far from retiring his sea legs, Tim is currently preparing to compete in the 2027 Global Solo Challenge aboard his Class 40. When he crosses the start line, he will be 75 years old. A testament to the fact that passion and ambition have no expiration date.
