California drops lawsuit seeking to reinstate federal funding for the state's bullet train - ABC7 San Francisco

“The authority said this week that it would focus on other funding sources to complete the project, which is estimated to cost more than $100 billion.”

“The authority's decision to drop the lawsuit comes as the group seeks private investors to support the bullet train.”

California this week dropped a lawsuit officials filed against the Trump administration over the federal government's withdrawing of $4 billion for the state's long-delayed high-speed rail project.

CA needs a low-cost solution and a private partner to finish the project. Opportunity!
U.S. DOT Secretary Duffy threatens to pull $4 billion from California high-speed rail

This must change and we have the solution! - “How about transit? The U.S. is famous for its patchy, low-quality train service, but this is not due a lack of dollar spending; instead, it’s a simple inability to build. New York’s Second Avenue Subway line has become the world’s most expensive subway line — an order of magnitude more costly per mile than similar projects in Europe. A recent report by NYU’s Marron Institute of Urban Management finds that the chief culprits in the overspending are the overuse of expensive consultants, overly large train stations, and poor coordination and pork-barrel spending by other city agencies. Meanwhile, California’s ambitious high-speed rail project, started well over a decade ago, continues to see delays and cost overruns.”

The private sector, just as it is interested in inter-city passenger rail, may be interested in intra-city heavy rail, including subways.

We have a system which can fit into that! - the Bay Area Seamless and Resilient Transit Act - to pay a single, fixed fare to travel between providers and counties.

Assemblymember Chiu’s bill would enable riders to use different systems and pay one fare
