2016 Hatcher Zin “Estate Vineyard” is on special feature status at all Murphy’s Markets! Need a pick-me-up from rainy days? Grab a bottle of this excellent Zinfandel grown in the warm sunshine of the Sierra Foothills ! Gold bearing quartz veins literally run through this vineyard set in metamorphic schist bedrock. There’s a minerality and depth to this wine that comes from the roots penetrating and breaking up the ancient bedrock!

Had a great visit to Oregon wine country! Checked in with Roots / Racine Wine Company. A load of fruit from Ribbon Ridge Vineyard was just about to arrive! Due to weather oddities this year, some vineyards in the region got hit hard by the late freeze/frost event. Some fared better. The fruit that survived is very good!

Unusually warm here in Oregon this October. Fruit is still hanging as wineries prepare for harvest! Low yields due to a late frost this year so folks are glad there is an extended dry ripening season to allow full development of remaining fruit!

Picking up a load of School Street Merlot here in Calaveras County. This delicious wine is being poured at Brick & Fire. The source vineyard is on a NNW facing slope outside of Vallecito set in Reddish brown soils overlaying Metamorphic slate of varying grades.Harvest just occurred as well as the first rainstorm of the season!
