It's a new day! How are we all doing with the new security enhancements at Forever? Please reach out to me if you have any problems or questions. It may seem like a lot but it's really not. Here are some things to consider...
Most have done the update without issues. Perspective is good. What made this update complicated was that the security changes required that ALL devices and connections be logged off. This means that software can't KNOW that an update is needed because it couldn't talk to anything so it needed to be user initiated - on all client software, mobile app and website. It was a HUGE undertaking - not the usual software update to get a few fixes and features in. That said, communication could have been better and more detailed and the team knows that. BUT so many didn't see or hear any of the communications that were sent - would it have made a difference to those? 24 hours later, I'd like to ask those with issues to take a deep breath. NO ONE DIED. YES, it is frustrating, but please keep this in perspective and BE KIND. These are human beings working behind the scenes, making coding changes, testing, fixing, thinking of all that could go wrong, making videos and crafting emails and documents to help with all scenarios but not sound too scary.
After reading about all the angst of updating Artisan and Historian yesterday, I wasn't looking forward to reinstalling, but I got it working.
You may have to install Artisan twice and choose "Modify" the second time, but it will work. Historian may be a bit quirky as well, but it installed the first time. Dont let the the error messages bother you.
My best advice is to say "yes" to the framework that has to be installed first. This is standard for new software. Install Artisan with a fresh download from Forever, then try to open it. If that doesn't work, restart your computer, install again, and you should get a menu that gives you "modify, repair, uninstall." Choose Modify. Barring any interruption in the download or install, such as a power outage or internet connection break, that should work.
PATIENCE is the KEY! Sometimes your computer is working when it looks like it isn't. Walk away. Get more coffee. Take a shower, LOL. Just don't stop it in the middle.
