Garbage disposal install DIY or contact ARMS Atlanta Home Improvement @ [email protected]
1. Shut off power from breaker box & test by flipping disposal switch to insure no power.
TIP: Empty sink of any dishes & make sure drain is free of water
2. Disconnect main wire source underneath disposal.
3. If dishwasher is connected then disconnect sewage supply line, if not go to step 4.
4. Unfasten elbow sewage connection from disposal (2 screws) & from pipeline.
5. Once elbow is unfastened then hold disposal from bottom, lift & twist to unfasten from sink hardware connection then remove old disposal
6. Remove wire casing (usually 1 screw) & pull wiring from bottom of replacement disposal.
7. Pull wiring thru 2nd hole in bottom of disposal leaving enough wire exposed for connection then fasten wire casing back on disposal.
8. Connect new elbow & rubber ring that serves as a seal also put pipe faster on to elbow so it can slide down to be fasten to the pipe once fitted to sewage drain. Commonly left off then must disconnect to slide on to fasten.
9. ***Remove plug**** from dishwasher connection on disposal, then connect dishwater sewage supply line dishwater to disposal & fasten.
10. Line up disposal to sink drain harware, lift & twist to lock in.
11. From step 7: Connect exposed wires to power source wiring with wire caps provided with new disposal. Ensure no corrosion, if so clean before connecting then connect.
12. Run water to ensure no leaking
13. Turn on main power from breaker then flip switch. Disposal should turn, then run water again to ensure no leaking with power on.
