1985 Gulf star 44 with twin CAT 3208s

Capt. Richard had both engines overheating the last time he went out. Being a Retired automotive mechanic, he had enough knowledge to check the basics, and realize it was something further.

After tearing into it, a dockhand recommended Diamond Shoals to help get him going again. With the complexity of the work, and the tight areas where some components are located; he was happy to have a marine diesel mechanic button it up.

Already being days behind on his voyage, it was important to get this work done quickly. After just a few hours, Capt. Richard is underway on the next leg of his journey!

With distant passages in mind, Capt. Jim knows he needs to be able to depend on Tiki's vital systems to get him there and back.

Capt. Jim has been a regular customer since purchasing Tiki. When it came time for another yearly service, he knew just who to call.

This year Diamond Shoals completed regular maintenance on the Perkins 4-236 propulsion engine, and Perkins 103-10 generator replacing:

• Oil, and filters
• Primary fuel filters
• Racor fuel water separator elements
• Raw water pump impellers
• Heat exchanger zinc

In addition to regular maintenance, there where some other issues that required attention including; Replacing a leaky section of exhaust hose, a leaking non marine fuel line, and fixing some minor electrical problems.

After priming the fuel system, start-ups, checking for leaks, and verifying fluid levels, Tiki is refreshed; in proper shape to visit all of Capt. Jim's dream destinations!
