Today the CDL drivers from 4 of our locations got together and went through our back to school training. Around 100 drivers spent the day getting a refresher course from State Patrol and having the opportunity to ask any questions they had.

Then Matt and Liz followed that up with Pretrip, Student behavior, and complacency. We threw in baked potato 🥔 bar and cake for good measure. I always love this training and getting to see all the drivers coming back together after the summer!!

If you've ever wondered what we do here all summer and why our buses and vans look so good every fall, here's your answer...

While everyone else is squeezing every last drop out of summer, our garage is busy painting buses, fixing dents, turning wrenches, cleaning, repairing, and performing a little transportation magic behind the scenes. This year we even tossed in detailing 30 extra vans for another location just for fun!! 🤩

These are the faces behind the scenes getting everything ready and making sure shiny yellow buses and vans show up on the first day of school looking ready for action!

Speaking of the first day of school... August is officially "Transportation Chaos Season." Good thing I thrive on chaos!!

Throughout the entire month of August, we'll be updating transportation information in our routing system as students enroll, move, change daycare locations, switch schedules, and make other transportation requests. Then get it all added into Infinite Campus the middle to end of the month for you to check. Please remember that things may change several times before school starts so it takes time to get it all perfect.

We'll be doing our best to keep up as the phone rings, emails roll in, routes get adjusted, and our carefully organized plans get reorganized... and then reorganized again.

If something doesn't look quite right yet, don't panic! August is the month we put all the puzzle pieces 🧩 together. We'll be working hard (and possibly surviving on caffeine and determination) to make sure every student has a safe ride on the first day of school.

I missed posting more amazing drivers from last school year last week. So this week I’ll have to post twice!! Here are 6 more people who helped make that year such a safe and successful school year on the transportation side. Huge shout out to all of these drivers. We feel so blessed to have them on our 4.0 team!!

This week we celebrate these 5 drivers from our last school year.

Keith and Kevin made life with bus 4 a breeze. I never had to worry about them as they make an amazing team. I’ll let them fight it out over who is really the Captain and who is the Co-pilot cuz the Al did that choosing on its own hahaha.

Wayne has been a sub driver here for a long time. I am so grateful for his knowledge of multiple routes and for him being my main golf driver.

Brent is a jack of all trades and he drives everything we have here. Drivers like that are amazing as they can jump in and help on both sides of the company medical and bus.

Rick deserves a big shout out as he started the year subbing and learning all the van routes, but then transitioned into our longest route. The last snowstorm of the season Rick didn’t get back from his after school route until after 8:30pm, and he still showed up for work again after driving in that.

Big thank you to these drivers and all the drivers who make this company so amazing!!

Last week Mike and I had the pleasure of joining all the Managers, Mechanics, Dispatchers and our corporate staff for 2 days of training. I wouldn’t be able to say it any better than one of my partners in crime Trish did so I stole her post to share with you one of the things we do over the summer while working to keep getting better.

Here are the spotlight drivers for this first full week of July. Tom, Tim, Ardean, and Ricky all bring something special to the team. One thing all of these guys have in common is that they are always willing to jump in and cover something new when things didn’t play out the way we had planned. It takes amazing guys willing to bend and move from route to route to make things work for the benefit of the team making this many routes flow each day. Thank you for all you do boys!!

At 4.0 School Services, transportation isn’t just what we do—it’s our passion. Ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students has always been our top priority, and in recent years, we’ve expanded that mission to serve an even broader community.

When we acquired Belle Plaine Bus Service in 2022, we took our first steps into Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT). Since then, we’ve dedicated even more time and resources to growing this service, and in 2024 acquiring AMVAN, a trusted NEMT provider serving the Mankato area. These investments allow us to provide essential transportation for individuals who rely on safe, accessible rides to medical appointments, therapies, and other critical services.

Today, we proudly operate NEMT services out of multiple 4.0 School Services terminals, including Mankato, Belle Plaine, Norwood Young America, and Glencoe. By utilizing our existing infrastructure and experienced team, we can efficiently provide transportation to those who need it most while continuing to grow our reach across the region. In addition to these locations, we are actively working to expand into other areas where we already have an established presence with a strong team of reliable drivers. This growth will allow us to better serve more communities while offering additional driving opportunities for our staff.

This expansion is not only a milestone for our company but also a meaningful way to serve our communities. It gives our drivers additional opportunities for hours while ensuring that more people— beyond students—have access to the transportation they depend on.
