Summer Muse Festival is an inclusive music and creative arts gathering that happens monthly throughout the summer. Each event is a celebration of the creative spirit of the season featuring artists, musicians, and food vendors. Our mission is to facilitate an environment for the local community to share and experience creative arts.

Our music line up has shifted with our two acts swapping spots - Two Hearted will go on at 6pm followed by Cassidy Jay at 7pm.

Unfortunatley our friend Lance Heddan is not able to make it so instead John Henningsgard will be joined by our other friend, April Aylesworth. No matter which way you pair these fabulous musicians thay make fine music. Here is a photo of the three of them playing a delightful set at the Watermark Art Festival this summer🎶🐦🌿

Hello, Diamond here! It has been so good to see you at Summer Muse Festival this season and I am really hoping to see you at our 2025 season finale tomorrow, October 18, from 4-8 pm at Rail River Folk School🫶

This season has brought joy. Even with the intensity of all the other things in life it has been life-giving to see folks coming together over creative practices in a space so near and dear to my heart. I was talking to a friend during Tiny Town's rockin' set at the last event. She leaned in close and asked if I ever felt like everybody in our community was just so talented and had so much to offer. It was such a lovely thought that felt so true and it stuck with me. I believe deeply that creativity is innate. Imagine the last time you picked up a pen and doodled on your work notes, or used the end to tap out a quiet rhythm. That urge is deep in us. It is so inspiring to see musicians and creative vendors make that urge into a practice and make the bold choice to share it loudly. It is just as inspiring to see folks show up to admire those creations with curiosity and wonder.

I know I will have more to say later (because I always do) but for now I just want to leave you with my sincere gratitude. I agree with the sentiment of my friend and I think she was right - our community does have so much to offer. Thank you for being an important part of that🩵🏵️🌿🦋

As you may have heard, this Saturday, October 18 marks the Fall SUMMER Muse Festival season finale because our season had to be extended when the first event was cancelled due to the summer solstice storm. That storm was a sad day for our area and continues to prove challenging. We did our very best to reschedule all that were meant to attend that day including this talented duo, Two Hearted. We were delighted to find out they were availble for this to makeup October date🦋 Two Hearted will take the Summer Muse Festival stage around 7pm this Saturday at the Rail River Folk School. You can meet them then, but here's a lil virtual intro to get you started:

✨Two Hearted is a duo consisting of John Henningsgaard on guitar, vocals, and harmonica. Lance Heddan on saxophones, flute, clarinet, and vocals. We play original music as well as covers. A bit of Folk. Blues, Rock, and Jazz. We play regularly at various Northern Minnesota venues.✨

Plan to take in this folksy, bluesy, jazzy musical group from Bemidji, MN this Saturday as we close out our 2025 Summer Muse Festival series. This community celebration is free to attend so bring a friend (or many) to check out some art, hear some tunes, and grab some food from 4-8pm🎨🌯🎷

Astro Baby Arts will be at Summer Muse Festival this Saturday from 4-8pm with her sculptures featuring a mystical twist of astrology, magic and nature🌳 We were happy to meet this creative through her shared photos and bio so we know you will be too:

✨️ Hi, I'm Sam. The creator of Astro Baby Arts. I blend astrology, magic and nature into my creations. I sculpt with clay and make celestial inspired sculptures, pendants and beaded jewelry. I love the process of creating and making each piece from the heart ❤️ each piece is so unique. I start with a ball of clay and I sculpey away, from my hands to yours, an extravagant work of art ✨️

You can check out the wares in person at Raill River Folk School THIS Saturday, October 18. The event is free to attend so bring a friend, and (if you can afford it) money to spend🎁🎁🎁 There will be a variety of art to look at from our nine creative vendor, food for sale from Zip Zap Vegan Grill, and live music from Cassidy Jay and Two Hearted. Creative activities and dance floor provided free of charge, and YOU will bring the community vibe so we cannot wait o see you there 🎉💕🦋

AlexAsmo is bringing his crocheted creations back to Summer Muse Festival THIS Saturday from 4-8pm at the Rail River Folk School In Bemidji. This creative has continued to create beautiful garments to share with us all throughout the season and we are so excited to see 'em all! We were also told they may have some extra stuff just for the spooky season 🎃

✨Hi! I am a q***r and disabled fiber artist from central Minnesota! I mainly focus on crochet and some other fiber mediums. I enjoy making wearables, accessories, and plushies! I am a huge nerd and love to yap about anything crafty!✨

Cassidy Jay will be performing at Summer Muse Festival this Saturday starting at 6pm🎶 When asked to share a short intro for the poster and website Cassidy self described himself as a "multi instrumentalist, improvising sonic wizard," which is both a fun and apt description if you have had a chance to listen to his last two album releases. For a longer intro Cassidy sent the following:

✨Hey all, I'm Cassidy Jay. You may know me from my acoustic or rock music but this round I'll be bringing some new vibes to the stage. For this fresh live set I'll be performing solo versions of my latest instrumental tunes on my guitar accompanied by my MPC to bring a bigger sound to the solo performer format. Maintaining my heavy groove sound, this performance will take my compositions to a bit of a mellower place. For that reason I'm calling this particular groovy batch of music heavy mellow. I'm stoked to share my music with you all at the coming show!🤘✨

Zip Zap Vegan Grill will be back serving deliciousness at Summer Muse Festival this coming Saturday, Oct. 18 4-8pm at Rail River Folk School Elaine has been a smiling face at two of our events this season and along with making great food she is kind community supporter. We dig her culinary creativity🧑‍🍳 More about Zip Zap:

✨I bought Zip Zap Ice Cream in June 2016 and ran the business in Mankato, MN until 2024 when I moved to Bemidji. I added the vegan grill in 2023 and changed my business name to Zip Zap Ice Cream & Food Trucks at that time. Besides pre-packaged "frozen smiles," I serve mostly organic & vegan foods plus smoothies. I want to raise awareness of how accessible and easy it is to make yummy meals that are plant-based and healthier than the most available foodstuffs. I also use my business to fundraise for local non-profits and/or causes✨

Local artist Kelli Lien will be in attendance at Summer Muse Festival next Saturday, October 18, 4-8 pm with her lovely assortment of paper delights 📚 Reading through her bio and looking through the images she shared reminded me of what a unique medium paper is and I look forward to flipping through it all in person. Kelli shared that she is a ✨visual artist working primarily in watercolor, acrylics, and collage. Book Artist with Core Certificate from Minnesota Center for Book Arts✨

Her paper delights include:

Kai's Creations is joining us for the Summer Muse Festival season finale October 18, 4-8pm at Rail River Folk School (Bemidji)🌸This creative has continued to create new items throughout the season and this time they shared that they'll have beautiful botanical trinket jars alongside their earrings for those with a whimsical personal expression. They say "there is something for everyone - gaudy maximalist all the way to a simple minimalist at a range of affordable prices." 🫙💐 Well, we're here for it!

Stop, look and chat with this hardworking creative while you meander through our community filled event featuring the works of NINE different vendors and two live music acts. This blowout fall event brings the spirit of summer into October to make up for the Summer Solstice event that was canceled due to the big summer storm.
