Long Island MacArthur Airport is officially #1 in America. ✈️

After six years of climbing the USA Today 10Best rankings, Long Island MacArthur Airport has reached the top spot in the 2026 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Small Airport.

The recognition reflects years of growth, expanded air service, major infrastructure investment, and strong community support, while reinforcing ISP’s role as one of Long Island’s most important transportation and economic assets.

From sixth place in 2020 to first in 2026, this is a milestone worth celebrating.

Congratulations to Long Island MacArthur Airport on this incredible national recognition.

The MacArthur area is making a major impact on Long Island’s economy, and Station Yards is proud to be part of its continued growth. 📈

Last week, the MacArthur Business Alliance released its Economic Impact Study, highlighting the strength of the greater MacArthur area, which supports more than 80,000 regional jobs and contributes nearly 6% of Long Island’s total economy.

Located within this growing hub, Station Yards is helping support that momentum through continued investment in housing, businesses, jobs, public spaces and transit-oriented development in Ronkonkoma.

We’re excited to see the MacArthur area continue to grow as a connected, vibrant destination for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

MacArthur Airport has tripled its airlines.

The airport went from 2 carriers to 6, and from 6 nonstop destinations to 16. It served 1.6 million passengers in 2025.

The growth around it is just as real. Station Yards at Ronkonkoma is bringing up to 1,450 apartments and 545,000 square feet of retail. $150 million is already committed to connecting the airport and the LIRR.

The new Economic Impact Study sets three priorities for what comes next: a master plan, new investment and infrastructure.

What is the MacArthur Business District worth to Long Island?

We commissioned an independent study to find out, together with Suffolk County EDC and the Town of Islip IDA. The results were presented on September 22.

Nearly 40,000 people work in the District around MacArthur Airport and along Veterans Memorial Highway. Those jobs support 80,650 jobs across Long Island, $20.5 billion in sales and $7.0 billion in earnings.

With about 3% of the Island's jobs, the District drives about 6% of Long Island's economy.

Start with the Hub. Impact Long Island.
