Kansas City has passed an ordinance increasing the required distance between food trucks and brick-and-mortar restaurants from 50 to 300 feet. Violations are punishable by fines of up to $500 or jail time.
The timing is particularly tough for food truck operators, who had been looking forward to serving the crowds expected for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
