Seven special sailings from NYC:

• Sept. 29-Oct. 3: 4-night Bermuda
• Oct. 3-8: 5-night Canada & New England
• Oct. 8-14: 6-night Bermuda & Canada
• Oct. 14-19: 5-night Bermuda
• Oct. 19-24: 5-night Bermuda
• Oct. 24-31: 7-night Canada
• Oct. 31-Nov. 5: 5-night Bermuda, ending in San Juan

Disney just dropped this image and announced that something is coming tomorrow.

So naturally, the first thing I’m hoping for is:

Disney Cruise Line is coming back to New York City.

The timing certainly has me wondering.

Could we see Disney Magic, Disney Dream, or even Disney Treasure sailing from Manhattan?

We’ll find out tomorrow.

For now, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for NYC departures.

If we haven’t connected yet, or if it’s been a while, I thought I’d take a minute to reintroduce myself!

I’m Tim @ UTM Travel, and I’ve been a travel advisor for the past 2.5 years, helping families, couples, friends, and groups turn their vacation ideas into actual trips. 🌎

🚢 What is a GTY Cabin on a Cruise? 🤔

You may see “GTY” when booking a cruise and wonder, “What does that mean?”

GTY stands for Guarantee.

Instead of selecting a specific cabin number, you book a guaranteed cabin in the category you paid for. The cruise line chooses your actual cabin later.

For example:

👉 Book a Balcony GTY
👉 You are guaranteed a balcony cabin
👉 The cruise line assigns your cabin closer to sailing
👉 You could potentially be upgraded to a higher category, but there is no guarantee of an upgrade

The BIG thing to know 👀

A GTY cabin gives you less control over your location.

You typically cannot choose:
• Your deck
• Your cabin number
• How close you are to the elevators
• Whether you’re forward, midship or aft
• Sometimes whether you’re near certain areas of the ship

So, is a GTY cabin a good deal?

Absolutely, sometimes! 💰

If you don’t care where your cabin is and you’re looking for the best possible price, a GTY can be a great option.

But if you get seasick, want a specific deck, need connecting cabins, or simply want to know exactly where you’ll be sleeping, I’d recommend choosing your cabin instead.

💡 This is one of those little cruise booking details that can make a BIG difference.

You’ve been talking about that vacation for months.

You’ve saved the pictures.
You’ve sent the links to your spouse.
You’ve said, “We should really do this.”

So what are you waiting for?

Here are a few reasons I always tell my clients, don’t wait until everything is perfect to book your vacation:

📅 The dates you want may disappear.
Popular travel dates, school vacation weeks, holidays and prime cruise itineraries fill up quickly.

🏨 The room you actually want may not be available.
That oceanview, balcony, suite or connecting room you had your eye on? Someone else may book it first.

💰 Prices can change.
There is no guarantee that waiting will save you money. Sometimes the best move is locking in the rate and monitoring it afterward.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Group travel gets harder the longer you wait.
Getting multiple families, cabins or rooms together becomes much more difficult when availability starts disappearing.

💳 You don’t necessarily need to pay for the entire vacation today.
Many vacations can be secured with a deposit, giving you time to make payments before your trip.

And probably the biggest reason…

Having something on the calendar gives you something to look forward to. ❤️

Don’t spend another year saying “Someday.”

Pick the destination. Pick the dates. Let’s get it booked.
