Memorial Day is not about sales at your local stores and it's not about thanking those who served. It's a somber time in which we remember those who gave their lives for something greater than themselves. To quote Robert O'Neill:

"Memorial Day is a time to honor the lives of those who would rather die than take a knee when our national anthem is played. But they will fight and die for the rights of those who kneel."

One of the things we did in the US Army Honor Guard, was to place a flag on the grave of every veteran buried there. And across America, hundreds of thousands of graves will bear the flag of the greatest country in the world.

God bless those who died so we can live our lives. God bless the family and friends they left behind.

I'll be announcing the winners today at 8pm (Eastern). There has been some confusion as to the requirements for entry. The requirements were to like, share, and comment on the video. Some people did not do all three, but I will not hold that against them. I'm compiling a list of those who liked the video, those who shared, and those who commented. Random winners (except for my immediate family members) will be chosen. I'll post the names of the winners here and what their prizes are. HOWEVER, if you win a gift card, you'll have to give me a valid email address, as I'm sending electronic gift cards. If you win a poster, you'll have to give me a shipping address of some sort. and her crew braved the cold, rainy weather to bring smiles to the little boys and girls today! I wanted to give a special thanks to the men and women at who volunteered to help make today possible. Some of them drove all they way from Jacksonville, Florida to Southwest Virginia! Of course, Santa himself was there to help give out toys, along with special guest Darryl Worley The weather was too bad today to fly the drone, so I'll have to make do with pictures! I hope you enjoy.

Scenic fall colors around John W. Flannagan Dam and Reservoir. This dam is located in Dickenson County, Virginia and serves as a flood control lake. During the four weekends in October, water is released to lower the water level of the dam. It is during this time, that people come from all over the world to raft down Russell Fork river.

The beautiful Birch K**b Observation Tower is located a few miles outside of Clintwood, Virginia. From here, you can see North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, and on a clear day, Ohio.
