her than inner city life, doing what we enjoy most, something so basic yet so far removed from the lives of most urban families, they have been nature deprived. It lay just beyond our city, across a bridge, an hour or two drive in any direction, nature and wild green spaces can be found, appreciated, shoulders drop and the body begin to relax, before you know it the human spirit begins to heal and blossom. My partner and I are visual artists, creating with our hands, passionate about nature, we're campers, trail walkers, star gazers, conservationists, novice marine biology enthusiasts, we are fulfilled by the earths majesty. Rah is a licensed sea captain and sails the waters, builder of many things, wood craftsman, fisherman, a staunch outdoorsman who sleeps beneath the stars and I, an evolving jewelry maker utilizing vintage beads. Now retired from having worked with non profit organizations as one of 3 creatives focused on reading through the arts, instructing children in NYC underfunded community schools in neighborhoods of the South Bronx, South Jamaica, Harlem and Mill Basin Brooklyn. I continue working in my studio, volunteering via Friends Groups such as Friends of Brower Park Library and Friends of Brower Park which has given me access to the communities children in desperate need of nature and art. Take comfort in shadows cast when the suns rays hit the trunks and branches of trees. Anything and everything amazes us in the natural world. The buzzing of wings, creatures large and small communicating from the forest floor to the tree canopy, to soothing
lapping of waves against the shore or trickling of stream. Sounds that still your heart immersed in these very special places. It provides everything we need. Our children deserve and have the right to experience what it feels like to put their feet on cool dewy grass and in clean sand, hear their own thoughts, sing their own song, to just be... free. And be given a special opportunity to do something thrilling, experience a taste of luxury, a hot air balloon or helicopter ride, a sailing yacht, a speed boat, tubing a slope, it can change the trajectory of a life and leave them with everlasting memories.
