Race Information (Directions and FAQ)

The Coal Cracker Classic is the resurrection of a bike race that was held in Tamaqua, PA over 6 years ago. Through the dedication of enthusiastic volunteers and the assistance of many local business and organizations, we have been able to once again bring this unique race back to our community. Please come out and support/race our event to ensure it will be

here again for many years to come! If you have any other questions please message us through this event page or our page (search Coal Cracker Classic). Also check out the race promo video on YouTube at the link below! Thanks for your interest and support and we look forward to seeing you on race day! http://bit.ly/1f2CTOm

Why is our race unique? Our race is unique because the course is located on OLD MINE LAND. This provides a style of riding that is specific to the coal region. Many people describe the beginner/intermediate course to have a "BMX" style feel and flow. The expert/endurance course contains large elevation gains and tight, twisty ridge top single track tying back into the famous beginner/intermediate lower loop. Both courses are single speed friendly. What is the course like? The beginner/intermediate/expert course is predominately singletrack, but this is combined with some doubletrack. It has a few sections of short climbing, tight twisty singletrack, moderate rocky sections combined with some mud, a few fun drops. How is the race setup? The beginner/intermediate/exert race is setup to be a LAP race. Each lap is 8 miles in distance and traverses terrain conducive to Northeastern Pennsylvania. Are there course pre-rides? NO COURSE PRE-RIDES! Since our trails lie on land owned by the Reading Anthracite Company, all course pre-riding is prohibited based on liability. Hello everyone, I am not sure what is happening with the CCC this year, since I know Richie has been all over the world (literately) Making people dance with his awesome music and show! Everywhere from NYC to Berlin to Japan. Without knowing what the plan was this year, we at Dn'A Bikes didn't want to interfere with the race so we branched out in a different direction so we could introduce a different sport/race to our area, On Oct 4th this year we will be having our first ever duathlon, being held at the Owl Creek Reservoir outside tamaqua, so we are unable to fund two full races this year. If I hear anything more from Richie, I will be sure to pass on the info to everyone here!
If you'd like info on the DNA Dual, you can find it here,

We want to take a few moments here to thank everyone that showed up to ride and enjoy the beautiful day we had! And also the post ride!! It was a fantastic day with no breakdowns, no injuries, and a hell of a lot of laughs and a great ride! We're hoping to do more of these in the upcoming months so keep an eye out and we'll see you on the trails!

Tomorrow is the day!! We'll be riding the race course at the bungalow as a big group event!!! Come one come all, and enjoy the beautiful fall in NEPA!! Entry fee is $10 and will include food and drinks after the ride is over. We are meeting for 10:30am at the bungalow and we are looking to be on the trails by 11:15. There will be two options available to ride, we can do the race course with some extras and or head up and do some of the old expert loops up top of the mountain! We'll decide that in the morning depending on your wants. So enjoy your Saturday everyone and we hope to see you there tomorrow!

****** Event November 16th********
We will be riding the bungalow loops, upper and lower, or just the lower, each person can choose which they'd like to do!! We are asking for $10 from each person, this will go towards food and drinks to be enjoyed by all after the ride is over, if the weather is nice we'll enjoy these delicacies under the pavilion at the bungalow, if it turns super cold or really windy, well, we can retire back to the bike shop and take advantage of the walls and warmth! We will meet for 1030am that morning and be on the trails by 1115! As always helmets are a must have and we suggest hydration as well! Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us and enjoy the trail ride planned for that day! Hope to see you there!!

The November event up at the bungalow:
It is looking like it will be Sunday November 16th at 11am, we'll gather together for 1030 ish and then head out from there, I have a few that want to do the upper loop on the mountain as well so that option may also be available to everyone!

11/04/2014

Hey everyone, Happy November to you! While we didn't have a race this year, I am thinking of putting together a fun day on the Bungalow course!! We'll ride the entirety of the lower loop with (depending on attendance) different folks keeping pace for those in their groups! The cost of the event would be $10 a person and at the end, we'd have good food and drinks available for all there! Let me know what kind of interest we'd have so I can get it put together in the next week or two!
