The Beveridge Wood Shop

The Beveridge Wood Shop The woodworkings of Donald Beveridge I became intrigued with woodturning during the fall of 2015. On Halloween we bought a lathe from Harbor Freight.

I watched hours of youtube video, the most informative being by Mark Sillay, Lyle Jamieson, Allan and Stuart Batty and Richard Raffin (very instructive). A really good value. When the first shavings came off that first piece of wood I was hooked! The process of turning wood is a totally mind emptying experience for me. No noise but the turning of the wood. I have spent hours turning snowman, ornam

ents, bowls, hollow forms but I am still in the beginning steps of this journey. In early May we purchased a much larger lathe (insert manly grunts here) and I am enjoying it to the max.

My Nephew Jeremy and his family joined us for Thanksgiving. He brought along a 26" diameter by 28'' Chunk of Hickory. I turned it! There was a total of 8 Natural Edge bowls but 2 developed cracks. The largest is 19 1/2" by 8" deep and the smallest is 8" and as you will see in the pictures they nest rather nicely together.

I delivered them to Maiden Maryland today where you could find them for sale.
