βIMPORTANT!!!!β
I debated all week about whether or not to post this, but after everything that has happened, I feel like I owe it to my clients and the people who support me to be honest. Things in business can change in an instant, and I don't believe in lying or hiding things from the people who depend on me.
I'm not going to name names, because that's not what this is about.
Recently, I hired someone to do literally one ride a day for Swift Ride on top of their normal full-time job. In return, I provided them with a vehicle. Yes, the vehicle needed some work, but it got you from Point A to Point B and did what it needed to do.
Unfortunately, the vehicle was being used for personal purposes, including driving around town and going to work, while the one responsibility I asked for was simply to complete the ride I assigned each day.
Then came a day when this person had no other rides scheduled and I asked them to complete one particular ride. They refused.
I simply said, "Okay. Then you need to return my vehicle and we need to part ways."
There was no hatred or bad blood from my end. I thought it was a simple business decision.
Instead, I was verbally abused and cursed at. I was told how much work had supposedly been done to the vehicle behind my back and how much money had been put into it. But that was never the reason I asked for my vehicle back. The decision was about the business arrangement and the responsibilities that came with it.
After a lot of work, I finally got my vehicle back.
Unfortunately, the situation didn't end there.
Another driver who was connected to this individual became upset with me over what happened. Despite being told not to have the first individual in my vehicle, that boundary was ignored. The two individuals met up, and my vehicle was intentionally damaged.
This wasn't just "a car" to me.
This was one of the best vehicles I've had in a long time. It was something I worked extremely hard for, and I am still making payments on it. Now it is badly damaged.
According to the repair estimate I've received, between parts, labor, and cosmetic damage, I'm looking at approximately $7,000 in damage.
And honestly, that hurts.
Not just financially, but personally.
I want to say thank you to these two individuals, because as heartbreaking as this situation has been, it has taught me some very important lessons:
1. It reminded me why my circle of trust is so small.
2. It reminded me why I originally wanted employees to use their own vehicles instead of providing mine.
3. It reminded me that being kind and helping people doesn't always mean they will treat you the same way in return.
They say some lessons are learned the hard way. I guess this is one of those lessons.
I gave these two individuals opportunities, trust, and access to vehicles because I genuinely wanted to help. I never expected that kindness to come back on me this way.
Moving forward, when I'm in a position to move forward, there will definitely be some things I do differently.
But here's what I also know:
This will not run me out of business.
I have amazing clients. I have clients who are great friends and family who have stood beside me. I have people who have supported Swift Ride through every change, every challenge, and every difficult season. ππ
To everyone who has continued to support me, believe in me, check on me, encourage me, and stand behind me β thank you. πππ
And to everyone who has sent money through Venmo, Cash App, or helped in any way to get me through this situation, I appreciate every single one of you more than you know. πππ
This is definitely a setback.
It's heartbreaking.
But it is not the end of Swift Ride.
I will rebuild. I will learn from this. I will make changes. And when I come back, I'll come back stronger and wiser.
Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with me and behind me through all the changes in my life and in this business. π
I know change isn't always easy, but please know that I have your back and I will always be here for you to the best of my ability.
Thank you for listening. Thank you for believing in me. And thank you for believing in Swift Ride. β€οΈ
