Busy day for the members yesterday. Starting off with an MVC w/ Rollover at Hope Rd and Tanyard Rd with reported 2 people trapped. Units arrived to find a trash truck on its side, with the occupants already out but one of them required aviation to shock trauma. Haz Mat 1 was requested to handle a pump off of the truck.

At approximately 8:00pm, units were dispatched for a Dwelling fire, at 118 Andrew Ct, reported as a lightning strike. Units arrived to find a 2 story, single family with smoke showing from the eves and eventually fire showing from side delta. Personnel were able to quickly contain the fire to the area around the fireplace and chimney with minimal extension. No one was home at the time of the fire and the cause was determined to in fact be from a lightning strike.

Just prior to 11:00pm, units were dispatched for another MVC w/ Rollover in the area of Mason Branch Rd and Three Pines Rd. Units arrived to find one vehicle overturned with everyone out and one pediatric requiring aviation for transport to JHU.

Early this morning at 0308 hours, Goodwill Fire Company and surrounding companies, were alerted for a structure fire at 352 Wrights Neck Rd. First arriving units found an approximately 60’ by 125’ pole building, fully involved with an exposure to a horse stable and requested the tanker task force and 2nd alarm bringing additional units. Once it was determined that the fire was contained to the fire building only and the exposure was protected, command held the assignment to mostly tankers while master stream operations were taking place. Units were on scene until about 0700. You may see still see smoke from the area as the contents of the barn, which was minimal but large amounts of hay, still burn and smolder. Unfortunately a pet rabbit succumbed during the incident. No other animals or people were injured.

Today, Friday July 3rd, a patriotic wreath fell off of Tower 4 on the way back to the station by Dunkin Donuts on Rt 213 . When we returned to retrieve it ,it was gone. If you picked up the wreath please return it to the fire company or message us and we will pick it up. This wreath is made by disabled veterans and means a lot. Thank you and hope it finds it way back to the station.

Thank you to the various citizens who have donated snacks, water and gatorades today! They will come in handy with the heat wave approaching. If you’re looking for a way to help, dropping off waters and gatorades to your local volunteers is an easy way to do that.

PSA!! With the Hot and Dry conditions coming up during this holiday weekend, use extreme caution if you decide to use fire works!! The dry conditions could cause fires to start and they will spread very rapidly, potentially to houses or other structures!

Also, with these hot conditions, it is important to practice extreme caution around water while you’re staying cool. Wear a PFD if you are around open bodies of water or out on a boat! Additionally, children should never be left unattended in or around a pool and if possible, fence off in ground pools and secure ladders to above ground pools to prevent children from wandering into or near them.

Stay safe everyone and enjoy your weekend!
