I am involved in the Miss America Organization and my platform is about raising awareness about Seat Belt Safety. In the fall of 2009 I nearly lost my brother when he was ejected over 115 feet from his truck during a crash. He sustained MANY injuries and is lucky to be alive. Authorities believe that if he had just been wearing his seatbelt the injuries would have been less drastic. This event ign

ited my passion to share my story and spread awareness about the importance of seatbelt safety. The insight I gained from this experience and the message I want to share is even though some people may feel it is a personal decision on whether to buckle up or not, they need to consider how their choices affect the people whom they love. I don’t want people to gamble with their lives by crossing their fingers, hoping they won’t get into an accident. Instead, I want them to promise they will buckle up by crossing their heart. As Miss Chadron 2014, I would love to share my platform about seatbelt safety with schools, church groups and organizations.
