I am actually very good at packing light.

On the way to my destination.

I deliberately leave plenty of extra room in my suitcase because I know I’ll find a few things I want to bring home.

There’s always an ornament for my collection. Then maybe a local toy or treat for my grandchildren. I always bring something edible that is unique to share with the family. Pasta, chocolates, cookies, tea, coffee…

Apparently, “it’s edible, so it doesn’t really count as a souvenir” is how I get into trouble. 😂

By the time I’m heading home, that beautifully organized suitcase has become a complicated engineering project involving strategic rearranging, zipper negotiations, and wondering whether the airport scale can sense fear.

But somehow, I always get it closed.

What’s the one thing you almost always bring home when you travel?

✨ Free flights are back!

If you’ve been thinking about experiencing Europe’s Christmas Markets, this is a wonderful time to make it happen.

Book my Danube Christmas Market River Cruise by September 30, 2026, and your airfare is included.

Imagine strolling through twinkling markets, sipping warm mulled wine, listening to carolers, and discovering charming towns dressed for the holidays—all without worrying about the extra cost of airfare.

This river cruise departs November 30, 2027, giving you plenty of time to look forward to one of Europe’s most magical seasons.

If you’d like the itinerary or have questions, I’d love to help.

🎄 Let’s celebrate Christmas in Europe together.

There is so much of the world I still want to see.

Places I’ve read about. Places I’ve dreamed about. And probably a few places I don’t even know I want to see yet.

Travel isn’t about checking everything off a list. It’s about staying curious—and continuing to discover what’s out there for as long as we can.

There’s still so much to see.

Comfortable shoes can make the difference between enjoying a destination and counting the minutes until you can sit down.

Historic cities are beautiful—but they often come with cobblestone streets, uneven sidewalks, stairs, and more walking than you might expect.

Before you travel, make sure you’ve worn your shoes enough to know they’re comfortable. Vacation is not the time to break in a new pair.

Trust me—your feet will thank you.

Any favorite travel shoe recommendations?

The ancient ruins of Athens may be famous for their beautiful white marble today — but they didn’t always look that way.

The Parthenon and other ancient Greek buildings once included vivid color. Traces of pigments have helped researchers understand that the temples, sculptures, and architectural details of ancient Greece were far more colorful than the pale stone we picture today.

It’s one of those reminders that travel has a way of changing what we think we know.

In October 2027, we’ll stand among thousands of years of history in Athens before continuing to the islands of Mykonos and Santorini.

There’s still room to experience Greece with us.

I have a feeling a few of you can relate to this. 😊

The excitement starts long before the plane takes off…the anticipation of seeing someplace new, meeting interesting people, tasting local food, and wondering what unexpected memories are waiting.

Apparently there’s no cure…

And honestly, I’m okay with that.

The Giant’s Causeway is one of Ireland’s most famous landmarks.

How it came to be depends on who you ask.

Scientists say the thousands of hexagonal basalt columns were formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago.

Irish folklore tells a different story.

Legend says the giant Finn McCool built a causeway across the sea to Scotland so he could challenge a rival giant. When the Scottish giant arrived, Finn’s quick-thinking wife disguised him as a baby. Seeing the enormous “child,” the rival giant imagined how large the father must be and fled back to Scotland—destroying the causeway behind him as he ran.

Science or legend, it’s hard not to be impressed when you see it in person.

Some credit card companies no longer require travel notifications, but it’s still worth checking before you go.

✔️ Will your card work internationally?
✔️ Are there foreign transaction fees?
✔️ Do you have the customer service number saved somewhere accessible?

A few minutes of preparation can help prevent surprises while you’re traveling.

Have you ever had a credit card declined when traveling?

I’ve loved Claude Monet’s paintings for as long as I can remember.

Next spring, our group will walk through the gardens that inspired so many of them.

What fascinates me isn’t just the flowers or the famous water lilies. It’s that Monet painted the same scenes again and again because the light was always changing. The garden didn’t change nearly as much as the way he saw it.

I think travel is a little like that.

The more we slow down and truly notice a place, the more it reveals itself to us.

That’s why I named my company Through New Eyes.

I’m looking forward to seeing Giverny—not just through Monet’s eyes, but through my own.

Have you ever visited a place you’ve dreamed about for years?

Travel quickly changes our perspective once you leave the ground behind.

Sometimes a change of scenery really does help us see things through new eyes.
