Every journey has a beginning… mine began in Jamaica with Sandals Resorts. 💚🇯🇲
The first time I stepped onto Sandals Royal Caribbean—now Sandals Caribbean Cay—I remember stopping in my tracks.
The turquoise water. The warm Jamaican breeze. The sound of the Caribbean. The beauty surrounding me was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
For a moment, the world seemed to stand still.
I wasn’t simply arriving at a resort.
I was stepping into a place that would change the course of my life.
I was falling in love with Jamaica. 🇯🇲
And it wasn’t only the breathtaking beaches.
It was the people. The laughter. The warmth. The culture. The way Jamaica somehow makes you feel like you’ve known her forever—even when you’ve only just arrived.
And, of course, there was the FOOD.
The jerk chicken. Ohhhh, the jerk chicken. 🔥😂
That smoky, spicy, authentic Jamaican flavor became one of my absolute favorite things on earth. Give me a plate of jerk chicken with the Caribbean in the background and I am one HAPPY girl.
Then there was another little love affair I wasn’t expecting…
BLŪM coffee. ☕️
I’ll never forget sitting there in Jamaica, wearing my favorite Dolly Parton shirt, taking that first sip and thinking…
This might actually be the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had.
And yes… I have photographic evidence. 😂☕️🎀
Looking back, those little moments mean just as much to me as the big ones.
The coffee.
The jerk chicken.
The turquoise water.
The conversations.
The laughter.
The Jamaican people who make you feel like family.
Those are the moments that turn a beautiful destination into a place that becomes part of you.
But there was one moment on that very first trip that changed everything.
That evening, I sat down at the computer in my beautiful room at Sandals Royal Caribbean.
I was just beginning my journey as a travel advisor.
And right there, from my room at Sandals Royal Caribbean, I booked my very first client.
I’ll never forget that feeling.
The place I had just fallen completely in love with became the place where my career began.
My journey as a travel advisor didn’t start when I came home from Jamaica.
It started IN Jamaica. At Sandals.
And I can’t imagine a more perfect beginning.
But Jamaica wasn’t finished changing my life.
Somewhere along this incredible journey, Jamaica gave me something else I never expected…
My best friend. 💚
We met in Jamaica as fellow travel advisors, brought together by the same love for travel, Sandals, and this beautiful island.
What started as two travel advisors meeting in paradise became a friendship I now couldn’t imagine my life without.
And that’s when I realized something.
I arrived in Jamaica thinking I was going to experience a beautiful destination.
Instead, Jamaica kept giving me pieces of a life I didn’t even know were waiting for me.
It gave me the place where I booked my very first client.
It gave me a career I fell in love with.
It gave me my best friend.
It gave me people who became family.
It gave me memories I’ll carry for the rest of my life.
And yes… it gave me a lifelong obsession with jerk chicken and BLŪM coffee. 😂☕️🔥🇯🇲
Today, every honeymoon, anniversary, family vacation, and once-in-a-lifetime getaway I plan carries a little piece of that first experience.
I still get excited imagining my clients arriving in Jamaica for the first time and experiencing those moments no photograph or brochure could ever fully capture.
That first glimpse of the turquoise water.
That first Jamaican welcome.
That first bite of jerk chicken.
That perfect cup of BLŪM coffee.
And that feeling deep down that says…
I never want to forget this.
Years later, Jamaica can still take my breath away.
I still crave the jerk chicken. 😂🔥
I still dream about that BLŪM coffee. ☕️
I still treasure the people Jamaica has brought into my life.
And every time I return, somehow this island finds another reason to make me fall in love with it all over again.
There’s a sign at Sandals Montego Bay that says:
“WHERE IT ALL BEGAN.”
Standing beside those words means something completely different to me now.
Because when I look back at my own journey, I realize just how much of the life I love today traces back to Jamaica.
My career.
My friendships.
My memories.
My love for this incredible island.
Sandals wasn’t simply my first unforgettable Jamaican vacation.
Sandals Royal Caribbean is where my dream became my career.
And Jamaica?
Jamaica will forever be where my story began. 💚🇯🇲
