GTC ADVISOR SPOTLIGHT: Jaime Williams
Q&A with Globe-Treks Consulting advisor Jaime Williams to talk destinations, group travel, and what’s next on the horizon.
Q: What’s the difference between a hosted and a curated group trip?
“A hosted trip means I’m physically there. I’m on the ship, in the room, present for every moment — the toasts, the excursions, the questions that come up before anyone’s had coffee. I only host twice a year, on purpose, and I never repeat a destination.
A curated group trip is different — I design and plan every detail with that same level of care, but I’m not physically on the ground for it. It’s the right fit for families, friend groups, or milestone celebrations who want a fully built itinerary without needing me present the whole time.”
Q: Can you share why you love to host or curate group travel?
“Hosting is my favorite because of the energy — sharing my love of travel and exploration in real time, watching someone’s bucket-list moment materialize right in front of them - it is so rewarding. There’s nothing like standing beside a client as a fjord comes into view for the first time, or standing in history and the magnitude of the moment washes over them. Being right there to say ‘trust me, you have to see this’ — and watching that moment land — that’s irreplaceable.
Curating gives me something different but just as meaningful: the trust of stepping back and knowing a family or a group of friends is having the trip of their lives, built entirely around them, even when I’m not standing beside them for it.
Whichever one it is, I love watching people leave changed by a trip I helped design.”
