Time for another repair shop dump starting with this very special Suhr. Not only is it special in its unique build specs, but also personally special to me. This guitar was previously owned by Chicago session great Tom Logan. Unfortunately, Tom recently passed and many of his guitars ended up for sale on the market. Tom had A TON of guitars… he used to joke that I would have to name a wing of my shop for him for all@the repair work I did for him. This guitar was one of Tom’s favorites though, and I did many a setup on it thru the years. I never expected to see this guitar again… but another customer of mine, Dave, brought this thing out of a gig bag and requested a setup. Dave bought this from Tom’s estate knowing it was one of his favorites. So cool to have this full circle moment and know that beautiful music will still be made on this instrument. 🥲

This magnificent beast of a fretless is still looking for a new home. Worried about intonation? Well there’s nothing to be scared of here with partial fret lines on the side of the fingerboard (side dots standard positioning) and 12-24 dots on the face to help with those tight spaces in the upper register. The Figured Satinwood fingerboard really shines in person on this one. Tone for days with more tonal options than you would expect from a passive bass… thanks !!!

Here’s another one hot of the presses and already sold. Lowdown Custom Series #047. This was my last currently planned stock 5 string build that hadn’t already been reserved. Sold before I could even get it to market. ❤️‍🔥
Don’t fret though… (get it?) I’ve got plenty of stock 4 strings currently available. And a few more planned for this year. Does anybody play 4 string anymore??? 🤷🏻‍♂️

- Two Tone Canarywood top, Alder Core w/Maple and Alder side stripes. Wenge neck/Pau Ferro fretboard. Custom matching k***s by ***s - cavity cover by me. Loaded with pickups/preamp and hardware. Had a lot of fun doing this build and am glad one of my last 6’s went to such a good owner. 🆕🎸

Lowdown Hybrid Series 4F #024 🆕
I had a lot of fun with this bass layout wise. I’ve always been into exploring alternative fretboard woods, especially of the lighter color. I came across this Figured Satinwood at Gilmer Hardwoods. It proved to be less than ideal for fretted application, but hard enough for fretless. This 2 Tone Ziricote top from polished up like a mirror. The Sapwood seam in the middle was begging to be lined up with this fingerboard. The ***s wood k***s are a fun accent. Blade pickups for massive tone and options. hardware. - $2,250 + shipping -

Lowdown Classic Series P Bass #016 🆕
This Classic Series Bass was originally going to stay in house here at LowDown, but a repeat customer swooped in and reserved it in advance. I wanted to build a P body/J neck Classic bass with some of my favorite options. This insane Quilt Maple top came from and the cosmetic imperfections in the wood mostly fell right outside of the template/burst edge. The amazing did the jaw dropping Transparent Burst finish. Love me the KickAss bridge and my favorite P Pickup of all time, the NP4A. These Classic Series builds always have a “one off” feel to them, but I always enjoy the challenge of recreating vintage designs, with my own little twists. 🤘🏼
