The Coincidentals

The Coincidentals The Coincidentals is a collective of Chicago-based independent choreographers. We see the body as a medium for creating visceral, conceptual, and visual art.

The Coincidentals is an ongoing choreographic collaboration between independent, Chicago-based movement and dance artists. As artists, we're concerned with questioning the assumed role of the performer and the avenues in which movement work is seen and experienced. We strive to breakout of the confines of presentational dance and provide an experience that integrates the audience in an intentional

way. Coming from many different trainings, our choreographic method blends the aesthetics of each mover and continually attempts to refine our identity as a collective.

Meet Sara Daudlin who will be presenting Habituate at Marrow: A Collective Diagnosis in just two weeks! Habituate is a work in progress where the movers utilize artist Stacia Yeapanis’ materials to explore the purpose of habits and rituals through means of accumulation, repetition and gesture.

Courtney Thayer will be roaming the fun-house of Marrow: A Collective Diagnosis! About her work: The ever present theme in my work is the struggle with anxiety and perfectionism, and my investigation thereof.
Making use of repetitive actions, visuals, or materials, I address the fears at the root of my own anxiety. These
repetitions are in turns, futile, self-destructive, contemplative, healing, self defeating or durational, with the goal
of seeking a broader understanding of the anxiety’s impact on my life and exploring ways of breaking or coping
with it.
