We are a family of 3 (dad, mom, daughter) living & traveling full time in our truck camper who decided we should start sharing our adventures with more than out immediate family.

Day 442: Busy busy busy. Lots of cleaning, some unpacking, much settling in. I spent my first night somewhere other than the camper for the first time in 440 days. Started drawing the property and church to plan for future renovations. Got distracted from that and designed a fire pit.

We walked all around the town over a couple days. Audrey got to play at the playground 1/3 of a mile from the chouse two days in a row. We got dinner at Bombers, it was pretty good for bar food! Walked to the fire station, it was empty, walked to city hall and got on the list to have fire pit inspected for a burn permit, then spent two half-days digging out, collecting the stuff, and building said fire pit.

Started cleaning up around the yard, trimmed the trees away from the basketball hoop and put on a new net. Pulled the remnants of the flagpole from the front yard, filled the hole, and patched the grass with a hunk taken from the fire pit. Still lots to do clean-up-wise but making dents here and there!

Day 432: A lot has happened in the 9 days since the last update.

On 5/4 we got up and traveled from Blue Earth MN the rest of the way to Brennas sisters' house in Ladd IL. We spent a long weekend there keeping busy hanging out and eating well with family and friends.

On 5/10 we left their house and headed to my parents in Port Huron MI. We got there around dinner time and my step-dad had pulled pork sandwiches waiting for us, even packed up some leftovers for us. We caught up and chatted and spent the night there. The next morning I loaded up the camper with bits I had ordered and things I had left there on previous visits. Early afternoon we headed out towards our new church/home in Coleman MI.

5/11 we arrived at the church and met a new neighbor right away. A huge change from neighbor interactions of Vegas. She bought the home that was once owned by the church and is also new to the town as of February. We took the rest of the afternoon and evening just sorta exploring the property, trying to create a vision of what it could be. A bit overwhelming with the scope and cost of the projects, but also a bit exciting.

Yesterday 5/12 was spent mostly starting to clean and secure the property. It seems it's been mostly empty for a year or so so there's plenty of cleaning necessary. Brenna got started on a good cleaning of the kitchen so that we can feel ok with using it. Meanwhile I went around and re-keyed all 5 exterior doors and began installing the security system.

Today we slept in a little and I got back to work on the security system while Brenna wrapped up in the kitchen. Around 12:30 the storage container with our stuff that's been being stored for the last 435 days or so. Then the real fun began. We spent the next 4.5 hours emptying the container (mostly) and doing a semi-sort of what should to upstairs and what should be in the basement. Of course it would happen on the hottest day of the year so far. All that remains until tomorrow are 3 dressers. We're beat.

We're still sleeping in the camper pending some smoke/CO alarms arriving (15 of them to be exact). Amazingly, there are zero here. Spending a small fortune trying to get some of the essentials for house living once again, but little by little we'll get there.

For the immediate future, lots of cleaning remains. Sorting of the items that were left for keep, sell, donate, or trash. Finishing up the security installation. A ton of general maintenance and yard work to catch up on and do. And, other general life functions.

Day 423(5/4): Did just as we planned yesterday (5/3). Brenna got up and grabbed groceries while Audrey and I continued to snooze (she da best), then got ready and hit the road. Drove many hours, stopping at Applebee's for dinner along the way. Spent the night at a rest area near Sundance WY.

Woke up this morning early (for us) and hit the road for our longest travel day of the trip from Seattle to Brennas sisters. Exited Wyoming, crossed through South Dakota, and now stopped to spend the night at a rest area in Minnesota. Tomorrow we'll finish the trip and be at Brennas sisters for a long weekend before heading into Michigan.

Across the street from us is a radio tower with "Jesus is Lord" lit upon it. If that isn't some sort of "sign" for a radio guy that just bought a church, I dunno what is!

Day 421(5/2): Spent a few days in Seattle visiting some friends we hadn't seen in way too long. They took us around town, Audrey loved the "famous space noodle" as she called it. Had some great food, and amazing talks.

We left Seattle Sunday evening and headed east to make some time towards Brennas sisters. Drove a few hours and spent the night at Sprague Rest Area.

Got up and on the road this morning again. Stopped for some dinner and a drive break, then back on the road to Bozeman MT. Intended on staying at a rest area, but there were zero parking spots available, so,we're doing our very first overnight at a WalMart.

Tomorrow, we'll grab some groceries from Walmart and hit the road for another long driving day, anticipating Sundance WY.

Day 417 (4/27): Crossed into Washington today. Stopped at Lewis & Clark National Park on the way. Brenna roamed around getting her nerd on, and Audrey and I worked on her junior ranger workbook. Before we left she was sworn in as an "official junior ranger"!

Staying at a fantastic Harvest Host tonight, one of the best we've had. Passed a deer as we were pulling in giving a clue to the awesomeness. Farmer Deb has been terrific, over-accommodating really to Audrey's requests. We got to give treats to the goats, had a "happy hour" with local snacks, and Audrey even got some chocolate goat milk. One of the goats seems to be in labor tonight, may get to meet a new baby before we leave tomorrow!

Day 416: Made our way to the Oregon coast this morning and took the Oregon Coast Highway North to our Harvest Host stay in Tillamook. Made some stops along the way and took some photos. Got some dinner at the deli inside Blue Heron Cheese Company and grabbed some snacks. Stopped by to pet some of the animals before the rain started back up.

Day 415: Another day, another Harvest Host. Today's stop is at Gingerbread Village restaurant. After a beautiful drive through some winding mountains we stopped and got set up. Headed in for a bit of an early dinner with another Harvest Host guest. The food was excellent and we had great conversation. Got a couple brownies and some cookies for some "take home" dessert. Then we headed outside to get some photos with the cutouts and met some of the animals on property as well. One of the owners even took Audrey in to pet the chickens and gave her a couple fresh eggs. Great stop.

Day 414 (4/24): Just continuing our travels.

Since our last update we spent night 412 at Sage Hill Farm (a Harvest Host). The owners were super hospitable and we had a wonderful conversation.

Day 413 we stopped in Hines Oregon. Audrey got a couple hours of play time there at a park with a huge slide, probably about 15 feet tall. After the park we did some grocery shopping and hit a local truck stop for some dinner. Then headed 20 minutes down the road to a rest area. Took a little hike along a trail at the rest area and spent the night.

Onto today. Day 414 had more driving. Stopped for the night at Cascade Meadows RV Resort. Among the most expensive campgrounds we've ever stayed (including inside the Grand Canyon NP), and while it's ok, it's a bit overpriced for what it is. It does have a small park that Audrey enjoyed, and all the usual amenities including clean hot showers and laundry room, but there's nothing amazing. It's convenient to the highway (which is why we chose it when a planned HH fell through) but it means you hear traffic some, and a train just came through as well. They're a Passport America member but they don't honor the discount "in season", which is the case for many, but the park is quite empty still so clearly at the early edge of the season. But, we're here, got another load of laundry done, showers, filled with water, tanks dumped, and we'll be ready for the road again tomorrow. Hopefully not many more trains through the night.

Day 410 (4/21): Got up and said goodbye to our Harvest Hosts, but not before fixing their drum carding machine (the machine that straightens and cleans the fur). Don't really know what I did, but I took it apart, did some testing and inspection, put it back together and it worked. I suspect the motors brush was hung up.🤷

We hit the road and crossed into Iowa. Tonight we're staying at a small campground called Wilson's RV Park. It's a Passport America participant so we got 1/2 off our stay. Audrey was stoked for their small playground, it doesn't take much to make her happy. We ate dinner, did a load of laundry ($3.50 washed & dried) and took some long hot showers. Our first encounter with pay showers, but $0.50 for 10 minutes, they were very clean, hot, and tons of pressure. Back on the road tomorrow to another new destination!

Day 409 (4/20): Working north we stopped for the night at a Harvest Host location, U-Inta Alpaca Farm. We got an awesome tour from the owner, got to pet and feed the Alpacas. Audrey was super excited to meet Kevin the peacock, and took a couple photos. Audrey also got a super cute alpaca stuffy made with real alpaca fur. On the road again tomorrow!

Day 408: We've been at Fremont Indian State Park since yesterday, following our goodbyes and the drive from Brenna's parents. We've completed closing on the church/house, now it's just waiting for us to get there. But, it'll have to wait a bit, we're not done yet. :). After spending the morning on the phone getting insurance finalized (what a relief) and making reservations for our travels we rode the bikes over to the museum. Spent the afternoon learning about the tribe that once lived here and left so many artifacts behind. Tomorrow we continue our way towards Seattle traveling a few hours each day, every day, until we're there.
