To quote one of my heroes...Robert Bullard

All transportation is not created equal. Clearly, transportation remains a major civil rights issue in the twenty-first century.

Transportation provides access to opportunity and serves as a key component in addressing poverty, unemployment, and equal opportunity goals while ensuring access to education, health care, and other public services.

[But today] The American society is largely divided between those with cars and those without cars.

Your employees’ commute will be the first step to a successful return-to-workplace strategy

Join Scoop Technologies Head of Enterprise Sales Trevor Boylan, Legacy Connect Executive Director Glenn Gadbois, and Intuit Global Commute Solutions Leader Tom Harrington as they discuss why Texas organizations should (re)prioritize their employees’ commute and expand commuter options outside of driving alone. You’ll learn:

• Implications to your organization if all of your people return to the workplace driving alone in single-occupancy vehicles
• Why transportation leaders are recommending carpooling and active modes of transportation to serve as viable commute modes for employees across the nation
• Best practices from two leading organizations, Scoop and Intuit, on how to successfully implement alternative transportation modes into your commute program
• The tools your organization could use to future-proof your transportation program investments in today's evolving landscape

Happy Bike to Work Day! Even though the pandemic has delayed celebrating in person, we hope you get to ride a bike today.

Consistent with National organizations we have postponed Bike to Work until September 22nd (Mark your calendars - there will be breakfast taco stations throughout Legacy for those biking to work!)

Until then we invite you to participate NOW and everyday up to 9/22 in the National Bike Challenge hosted by Love To Ride USA and the League of American Bicyclists. You can compete against other individual and group riders, including two challenges: Bike Month and Cycle September. Get ready to set your goals, build community, win prizes, and make cycling a habit everyday.

We had hope to be rushing around preparing for Bike to Work 2020 tomorrow, but it’s another casualty of COVID-19. Instead, we would like to give a shout out to those organizations who graciously stepped in, agreeing to help us celebrate cycling in Legacy.

Thanks to REI, Plano Bicycle Association, Richardson Bike Mart, City of Plano Transportation and Parks departments, NCTCOG & DART Bike Programs, and the local breakfast hosts - Children’s Health, Ericsson, Intuit, Spaces, and Toyota

WE WORK TOWARDS INTEGRATION AND SEAMLESS CONNECTIVITY.
All transportation services should be integrated and thoughtfully planned across operators, geographies, and complementary modes. Seamless trips should be facilitated via physical connections, interoperable payments, and combined information. We will promote every opportunity to enhance connectivity of people and vehicles to wireless networks. What ideas do you have to improve better integration? Tell us your plans and tag us with or !

WE SUPPORT THE SHARED, SAFE, AND EFFICIENT USE OF VEHICLES, LANES, CURBS, AND LAND.
The mobility of people shall be in the center of transportation planning and decision-making. We are working with the City of Plano and others to begin planning and designs for safe and inviting facilities for walking, cycling, public transport and other efficient shared mobility, as well as their interconnectivity. How often do you take alternative transportation to and from work? What do you use? Tell us your plans and tag us with or !

Physical, digital, and financial access to shared transport services are valuable public goods and need thoughtful design to ensure use is possible and affordable by all users, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, income, ability, or other characteristic/identity. We will champion “human centered” designs to promote more thoughtful design. How could you be more inclusive in your daily work? Tell us your plans and tag us wtih or !

WE ENGAGE WITH STAKEHOLDERS.

Residents, workers, businesses, and other stakeholders may feel direct impacts on their lives, their investments and their economic livelihoods by the unfolding transitions to shared, safe, and efficient use of vehicles, lanes, curbs, and land. We commit to actively engage these groups in the decision-making process and support them as we move through this transition. How could you contribute to the conversation about our community? WE PLAN OUR CITIES AND THEIR MOBILITY TOGETHER.

The way our cities are built determines mobility needs and how they can be met. We seek diverse participation in rethinking Legacy’s development, urban design and public spaces, building and zoning regulations, parking requirements, and other land use policies to incentivize compact, accessible, livable, and sustainable cities. How can your daily actions help ease traffic congestion? Tell us your plans and tag us with or !
