Easley for Better Schools

Easley for Better Schools Decline to Sign! A misguided effort is underway to remove Nate Easley from the Denver Public School Board.

Under the false guise of a conflict of interest, these groups are circling a petition to recall Dr. Easley, even though the District’s legal counsel has already declared there is no such conflict.

General information

The truth is some people are opposed to the changes that have already improved our schools. DPS is not where we want it to be, but already we see have seen signs of improvement: • From fall 2009 to fall 2011, the number of neighborhood middle school and high school options available to families in Far Northeast Denver will nearly double—from 9 to 17. • Our schools are serving 2000 more students this year than in 2008—an 8% increase. • Starting in fall of 2011, every family will have access to bus transportation through the district. Previously, only 10% of families were eligible to receive bus transportation. • The district is building a new, state-of-the-art $5.5 million Early Childhood Center in Far Northeast Denver. • DPS has hired 500 new teachers, and our proficiency on test scores is far outpacing the State. • DPS had the biggest increase in high school graduates in years—a 12% jump in just one year! Nate Easley, Ph.D. has spent his life working to improve schools to give every student the opportunity to succeed. Dr. Easley is Deputy Director for the Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) and President of the Denver Public Schools Board of Education. He is a proud graduate of Montbello High School.
