UPDATE Friday morning -- The name of the person who died in this crash is 39-year-old Lucas Toral Pantaleon of Hayden, according to Routt County Coroner Mitch Locke. Colorado State Patrol says he was headed eastbound and went into the westbound lane on Hwy 40, colliding with the truck being driven by a man from Craig. CSP adds that hail and sleet were a factor.

UPDATE at 7:53 p.m. Colorado State Patrol has released more information on the accident west of Milner. The two people who were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries are from Craig. The driver is a 37-year-old male and the passenger is a 22-year-old male. There is still no information on the driver of the car with California plates who died.

Tow trucks are on the scene.

UPDATE at 7 p.m. Traffic is alternating.

UPDATE from Colorado State Patrol at 5:40 p.m. One person has died in the crash. There are two people in the other vehicle who have been taken to the hospital. One car had California plates and the other car had Colorado plates. The call came into Colorado State Patrol at 4:48 p.m. and it is happening at mile marker 120 right now. Highway 40 is still closed in both directions. And apparently there is a lot of hail on the highway.
