It was a beautiful weekend for Homecoming and class reunion at my Alma Mater, Wartburg College in Waverly. Bonus -- got to see and hear the Waverly-Shell Rock Marching Band sounding great in the parade. And Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal under the direction of Dr. Lee Nelson always brings back joyful memories. Go Knights!

Most every year I am invited to be one of three clinicians for Bands Across the Prairie. This year the schedule lined up so I could work with five bands whose students I also get to know through student leadership sessions: Anamosa, Xavier, Independence, Clinton and Clear Creek Amana. I love it when that happens! One highlight was seeing Clinton’s River Kings and Queens. It was great to see drum majors Javion, Samantha, and Josephine in their royal finery at last Saturday's event instead of their usual summer garb.
