Let's talk about The Withlacoochee River....
Our chartplotters have waypoints set up to give you an alarm when the boat gets within the radius of a known danger. We also brief our clients on these dangers before they sail away from the dock.

Of course, we don't know of every single hazard in the water, but we give you the information of the hazards of which we are aware.

- Lake Rousseau -
This lake was once a cypress forest before the lock was installed and the river and lake were created. The stumps are just below the surface of the water and create the perfect mine field for boats. There are channel markers to help guide boaters through the minefield. However, there are still dangerous stumps inside that channel.

When you are exploring the Withlacoochee and you see the "DANGER STUMPS BEYOND THIS POINT", it's best to turn around, especially if you plan on running the boat on plane.

The same goes for going up-river and past the same "🛑" warnings.

We do have the Hydro-shield skeg-mounted propeller guard that helps save the lower unit, but it doesn't do much at all against a fast-moving boat and when up against the hard, unforgiving Cypress stumps.

Good morning my friends!

Just giving a heads up that if you are wanting to go to Lake Henderson or Hernando, we will need to see if the water has risen enough to safely launch the boat. It is very shallow there at the dock right now. The floating dock is literally sitting on the ground. Hopefully this rain that we're getting will break the drought and bring the levels up. But I think it's going to need a week or so of rain to get back to normal and safe boating levels.

Crystal River Power sports Boat Ramp

Happy Mother's Day everyone!
We just received correspondence from Crystal River Powersports that their "Commercial" ramp usage fees are now $250 PER MONTH! We only use this ramp by special request which is only about 4 times per year.
One of the reasons we are a 5-star rated company is we advocate for you and try to keep your vacation as affordable as we can. We have, as of today, severed the relationship with Crystal River Powersports/Days Inn.

If you have a vacation rental with a dock along the north side of the river, we will deliver the vessel to your dock as we always do for rental periods of 24 hours or more.

Enjoy Mom's Day! Love on her! Appreciate Her! Mother will always prefer a meaningful and thoughtful gift over expensive ones! I'd wager that most would love if you spent and shared time with her over any tangible item!

All of our vessels have their unique MMSI registration and they all have the "Distress" button that automatically broadcasts your location, vessel name and description information to rescuers.

Be prepared to clearly tell the Coast Guard:
1. What the emergency is.
2. Souls On Board, including yourself.
3. Steps you're taking to mitigate the emergency.

In most cases, you should drop anchor and raise the ORANGE distress flag found in the SAFETY box.

Be sure to repeat important information 3 times.

Just a heads up...
We have been able to use a backup file and move servers in order to get some functionality back for our website.

CPanel is still down and as soon as they get it so we can restore the files, we will have a fully-functional website once again.

In the meantime, you can use the site as normally, but without some of the fancy bells and whistles.

What's going on with Sweet Florida Rentals lately?

Many of you know that Darrell had surgery April 13 to fuse a blown disc in his neck. His recovery will be pressing into the summer. We have some really great and dear friends who are jumping in and helping when we need it. It's definitely not easy, but we are doing it!

Call me an Old country boy..
But I was delivering a boat to Branford, Florida This morning and stopped by an old country store. They had a little cafe inside and I couldn't resist buying one of their bologna and cheese biscuits.

Old memories started rushing back from my childhood and I have to say that I sat there and enjoyed that biscuit more than I would have enjoyed a juicy porterhouse steak! My mom would always cut the three splits in the bologna before frying it, and it was a very good breakfast for growing boy! Whether we were camping or even just at home, getting ready to go fishing, that was a favorite of my brothers and me!

So I have a question. What childhood memories do you have that relates to food?
