⚠️UPDATE (1/26): The commercial vehicle right-lane travel restriction will be lifted today at 10 a.m.

The restriction, which limited commercial vehicles to the right travel lane on all state roads due to the winter storm, will no longer be in effect after that time.

⚠️Due to the expected winter storm, beginning at 12 a.m. Sunday (1/25), all commercial vehicles will be restricted to only traveling in the right travel lane on all state roads, including the New York State Thruway. Motorists should monitor their local forecast and check 511NY.org for the latest travel information.

A few things to keep in mind regarding the major snow storm that is forecast for our area:
• Avoid unnecessary travel, particularly during the height of the storm. If you can stay home, please do.
• If you must drive, slow down, increase your following distance, and allow extra time to get to your destination.
• Never pass snowplows or follow them too closely.
• Clear all snow and ice from your vehicle, including roofs, lights, and windows, before driving.
• Check on elderly neighbors or anyone who may need assistance during the storm.

Our Patrol and Emergency Service Unit officers will remain visible and engaged throughout the event, working alongside our public safety and public works partners to keep roadways as safe as possible. We urge everyone to stay informed by following official weather updates and local advisories, and to exercise patience and good judgment.

A sheet of Ice flew off a vehicle on a NY highway and onto another car's windshield, destroying it. The wild video was caught on tape.

School will be starting soon and there still seems to be some confusion about when to stop. Two lanes? Four lanes? It doesn't matter. When the school bus stops, you stop too.
