Apparently, Springettsbury Township is experiencing a staffing issue. 👀
We recently received notice that a “timely response cannot be accomplished due to bona fide staffing limitations” regarding some of our Right-to-Know requests.
Interesting. 🤔
Sounds like adequate staffing might be pretty important when people are counting on you to provide a timely response.
We feel like we’ve heard that somewhere before….
So, while we’re delayed in sharing some of the information we requested, here’s something we can share today:
🚓 Springettsbury Township Police Department 2026 Budget: $7,415,433.00
🚒 Springettsbury Township’s 2026 contribution to York Area United Fire and Rescue: $3,931,725.08
To be very clear, this post is not suggesting that the police department doesn’t deserve its funding or resources. Public safety needs to be properly funded, period.
Our point is that the fire department deserves that same recognition.
When the police department has staffing, equipment, or operational needs, those needs deserve to be addressed. When the fire department has documented staffing needs that directly affect our ability to safely and effectively respond to emergencies, those needs deserve to be addressed too.
We’re asking for the fire department’s needs to be taken just as seriously.
