A few months ago we upgraded our dashcam systems here at Satchell Creek Express. Our new setup not only gives us side-view cameras, but also uses AI to identify potential safety violations and events.

And it’s not just trucking companies. The DOT and other enforcement agencies are increasingly using technology and AI to assist with their jobs as well.

Technology can help catch problems before they become accidents, and help protect drivers — but there are also legitimate questions about privacy, accuracy, and how much technology is too much.

This is a prime example shared by Meiborg Companies of how easily a competent DOT officer can catch the "workarounds" some drivers try.

The DOT has caught up with the 21st century and is making full use of the technology available to identify violations and hold carriers and drivers accountable. If you're relying on shortcuts instead of compliance, there's a good chance they'll eventually catch up with you.

Imagine being trusted with $100,000 of a company's freight, and not being trusted to use their bathroom.

That's not a story. That's a Tuesday for a truck driver. A man hauls a company's entire livelihood across the country, backs it into their dock clean and on time, and then gets pointed to a porta-john in the parking lot because the inside restroom is "employees only." Can't fill a water jug. Can't sit down for ten minutes out of the heat. Watched like a criminal for delivering the thing that keeps their doors open.

We trust these men and women with billions of dollars of goods and the safety of every car on the road. But a clean bathroom is too much to ask.

It costs nothing to treat a driver like a human being. The fact that so many places won't tells you everything.
