The Red Tent is a monthly gathering in which women come together for solidarity, support and friendship. Based on ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Canaanite practices of sending women to a menstrual hut, today Red Tents are being re-created and adapted as a place for women and girls to rest, replenish, connect, and share.
Whether you have a womb or not, here in the Red Tent we journal, rest, receive and give energy work, draw, read, share, and listen to women’s wisdom in the stories we speak. Inside the Red Tent Temple, we step out of our demanding worlds, and give ourselves time to remember who we are at our very core, and honor the innermost temple of our hearts.
In the Red Tent we co-create a place among us where we honor the experience of women by honoring our unique journeys of womanhood. A place for our elders and our young women. A place for us to come alive.
Join us. It is more than a woman’s circle. It is a deep learning process of unlearning the busy and finding the moment. Come into the Red Tent Temple and stop for a breath. It is time.
Janet Farnsworth, author of the #1 Amazon Best Seller “LOVE YOUR BODY: The Guide to Stop Making Your Body a Battleground”, inspires women to bust through old beliefs of shame and blame and instead, connect to their bodies as a source of wisdom, pleasure, and joy. Based on “The Practice of Now: Let Love Move You” - a movement-therapy practice to heal and nurture our relationships with our bodies - “LOVE YOUR BODY” is How-To for any woman who is ready to feel empowered and at peace with all she is, and all she can become.
A personal survivor of the blame game, Janet currently resides in Austin, Texas, where she enjoys the challenge of finding ways to wake up each morning and be glad to be in the body she actually has, particularly the stretch marks on her stomach and the cellulite on her thighs.
Janet also loves being a part of the Austin Red Tent, which she and Jamie Waggoner helped found in 2012. A collaborative space for sisterhood, the Red Tent has become one of Janet’s primary sanctuaries of love, power and nourishment. She is thrilled to offer one at “Maiden, Mother, Crone”.
