Professional Pilots,

📣 We are happy to announce that the The 2026 Carmen John Lomando Memorial Scholarship Window will be open starting TOMORROW, Monday -- October 19th, 2026 through Monday, November 16th, 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to receive funding directly towards your flight training! ✈️

Additional details regarding eligibility found below!

- Applicant must be a United States Citizen, Permanent Resident or International Student under a F1 Visa.

- Applicant must be residing in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico.

- Applicant must be enrolled in a flight school at the time of scholarship disbursement. (The scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to your flight school.)

- Applicant must NOT currently hold and must NOT currently be eligible for an ATP or Restricted ATP.
- Applicant must be at least 16 years of age. (The minimum age to solo an airplane is 16 years old.)

REMINDER: Last year, the Leadership Team sent out a survey to learn about your experience with the organization and collect your honest feedback. We had great participation and were able to learn much of what PPOT has been doing well, as well as what can be improved upon, from the time many of you took to respond to the survey. For that, the PPOT Leadership Team is incredibly grateful.

As part of our efforts to continuously improve the PPOT experience and address the needs of our members, we are conducting another round of surveys. Please consider taking the time to fill out the prompt, which includes a variety of relevant topics.

This should take no more than 10 minutes and your responses will have a direct impact on the direction of the organization.

We are incredibly proud to announce The PPOT Lifetime Service Award!

The PPOT Lifetime Service Award is the organization’s highest recognition of volunteer achievement, honoring individuals whose dedication, leadership, and commitment have left an enduring mark on PPOT.

This distinction is reserved for volunteers who have consistently gone far beyond the expectations of their roles, making extraordinary contributions that have strengthened the organization and advanced its mission in meaningful and lasting ways.

Through their service, these individuals have helped shape the direction, culture, and success of PPOT while exemplifying the spirit of volunteerism upon which the organization was founded.

Recipients of the Lifetime Service Award have typically served the organization for many years and have demonstrated exceptional leadership at the Director level or above. They have reliably fulfilled their responsibilities while continually seeking opportunities to improve the organization, mentor fellow volunteers, and expand PPOT’s impact. Many have led transformative initiatives, guided the organization through periods of growth and change, and contributed ideas and solutions that continue to benefit PPOT long after their active involvement has concluded.

Beyond their accomplishments, Lifetime Service Award recipients are recognized for the character and professionalism with which they served. They are respected by their peers, admired throughout the aviation community, and regarded as ambassadors of PPOT’s values and mission.

Their legacy is measured not only by the projects they completed or the positions they held, but also by the lasting influence they had on the people, programs, and future of the organization. The Lifetime Service Award stands as a permanent tribute to those whose service represents the very best of PPOT and whose contributions will continue to inspire future generations of volunteers.

PPOT Recently attended the OBAP 2026 Conference in Chicago, IL. The PPOT leadership Team, alongside our volunteers, are incredibly grateful for the generosity of OBAP, and for their continued support over our 10 years of operations.

As always, the event was a great way for our volunteers to meet with current and prospective members of the organization. PPOT is fully committed to supporting other non-profit organizations with as OBAP, to advance our professions.

As always, we thank our volunteers for dedicating their time, energy, and resources in an effort to provide confidential, insightful, and unbiased mentorship and support to professional pilots across the industry.
