Saturday, 22 June and Sunday, 23 June, the Goshen Amateur Radio Club will participate in the American Radio Relay League annual Field Day. Field Day is a 24-hour communications exercise conducted under simulated emergency conditions. Using only temporary antennas and portable power, club members will attempt to contact as many other amateur radio operators as possible across the U.S. during the exercise. Although Field Day is conducted as a contest, it is in fact a rehearsal for establishing radio contact when traditional methods of communication fail.
Field Day operations will start at 2:00 PM on Saturday and end at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Fairfield Junior/Senior High School. Contact Roger Mertz, KC9CDS, at [email protected] for information about the local Field Day event or browse to https://www.arrl.org/field-day for information about the national event.
This is an open event and visitors are welcome and encouraged to drop in.
The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) is the national association for amateur radio, connecting hams around the U.S. with news, information and resources.
